Introducing AdventureSmith

But what is an Adventure Smith? To us, they are the craftspeople of adventure.

Explorers, scientists, writers, and filmmakers.

The men and women who are all living and breathing adventure in one form or another.

In my day job, I live and breathe fictional adventures.

I run a charity, The Wilbur and Niso Smith Foundation, which was established by the late bestselling author Wilbur Smith and his wife, Niso.

We work with writers and readers, supporting them and redefining what adventure fiction is today.

Wilbur Smith, the author, was a man of adventure, whose incredible life experiences course through his novels.

That's one field of work.

For all of our Adventure Smiths, adventure inhabits their work.

I gravitate towards experiences that give me that sense of adventure, but I'm also interested in people.

And actually, I think the two go hand in hand.

So when the idea of Adventure Smith came to light, I jumped at the chance of hosting a series talking to today's real-life makers and creators of adventure.

I've been in the studio with producer Chris and some fantastic Adventure Smiths, finding out what makes them tick and how you and I can find that spark of adventure in our daily lives.
