The Story of Santa Claus

I remember it being advertised.

I remember seeing it on lists of forgotten Christmas specials, but I had not gotten around to seeing it before now.

Colin, I remember you mentioning this before to me, but tell me your history with the story of Santa Claus.

So this is one that I don't think I saw it when I was a kid, but I was aware of like this idea of competing origin stories of Santa Claus.

Cause like every kid sees Santa Claus is coming to town, right? That's the classic.

I was really little.

And I remember like the life and adventures of Santa Claus.

It's like, Oh, these don't seem to line up.

Then there's this third one.

I don't think I saw it, but maybe I did.

And it just got into the stew somewhere, but I did see it a few years ago.

And I was like, I mentioned it on, on another episode we've recorded.

I'm like, I got to revisit that sometime.

uh jeff what about you

yeah so this one i i remember probably from the like from high school so like the late late 90s early aughts um so reruns obviously but uh i i love i'm a sucker for a good origin story of santa especially something different slightly different um So I remember it.

And like you, when I was researching this, I realized it was like on much, much later than I thought, than I ever imagined.

Oh, yeah.

So this thing.

OK, so the story of Santa Claus first aired on CBS on December 7th, 1996.

And I think they kept running it until very recently, like into the 2020s.

Oh, wow.
