AccessWorld #37 -- Meet Me in St. Louis

There was a cool video I was checking out.

I didn't realize, so I knew Waymo was in Austin, but I didn't know that Tesla had its own robot

cars now.

I mean, obviously the Tesla has been focusing on fully autonomous vehicles for a while.

But Sam with The Blind Life, for folks that follow him on YouTube, he did a cool video where he demonstrated the difference in accessibility between both the Tesla and the Waymo.

And the Waymo scored way mega points, which is great because Waymo's been so good with reaching out to the blindness community for feedback and stakeholder, whereas I've never heard anybody from Tesla's robot cars

reach out.

No, I haven't heard anything.

It sounds

like they were at NFB, though.

I did hear someone say they were at NFB.

i feel like with some of these things if it's not on someone's radar like with a lot of these mainstream things where there's a mainstream technology and it just turns out to be really useful for blind people and then people once they once these companies discover that as i remember the the metaglasses where that's like that was a mainstream device

on Yeah, and then after they realized that, then they started focusing more on the blindness side of things.

And

I wonder if Tesla's kind of finding out the same, that, oh, blind people will want to use our cars, where before they might not have even thought about it.

I'll be curious to see how that changes things or where things progress going forward with that.

I heard Meta was engaging with folks at NFB.

I'm hoping they're at ACB, just to reconnect with them.

It was really great to meet some of the Meta folks at our conference last November.

Yeah.

But yeah, just to praise them, because it's been neat.
