Sometimes the most compassionate things we can do is to stop pretending that caregiving doesn't cost us anything.
That's important because if we define freedom only as being able to do whatever we want, whenever we want, then caregiving will always feel like imprisonment.
But if freedom can also mean living with purpose, loving with wisdom, and walking in step with God, even when life is constrained, then maybe freedom is not gone.
