Rangers Offseason Reality Check Before The NHL Draft

So Bowen Byram's getting traded to Chicago.

I know this is a Ranger podcast, but there's obviously some ramifications that come to this.

It looks like the fourth overall pick is going to Buffalo and supposedly some other players.

I'm assuming salary cap space.

for Buffalo to sign so far.

I'm just trying to read what somebody just wrote.

There's no effect on the attempts to re-sign Tuck.

Anyway...

That's where we stand.

So fourth overall pick for Bo and Byram to Chicago.

I guess Chicago didn't like either who was going to be left from Chase Reed or Schmitz or Carrolls.

I don't know if that's good or bad.

So earlier in the day, San Jose traded William Eklund to Ottawa for the ninth overall pick.

And what that does is tell you that they're drafting Stenberg number two and that they'll draft a defenseman with that ninth overall pick in all likelihood.

So being that Stenberg was going to be off the board, obviously they preferred to do this.

And it was smart.

Listen, I think San Jose is handling this perfectly.

They're going to go get the best player available, which is Stenberg.

They move Eklund to go and either use that ninth pick to – Maybe they flip that ninth pick for someone else for an NHL defenseman.

Maybe they trade the ninth pick for Schneider.

Who knows? This possibility is still out there.

Or they're going to use that ninth pick to draft whichever one of the defensemen falls to them.

whichever one of these four or five that are out there.

Daxon Rudolph is a name we haven't talked about, but he's just a very small notch

below.
