Ally LevyGuestCo-HostHostPhilipHostIt's a painting.
Do you want to just talk a bit about the painting and sort of where that came from? I know you're an artist yourself.

And then I made it was I had put like four pieces of kind of eight by 10 paper, you know, like, kind of semi transparent paper together.

just because I wanted like a larger surface, but in the end, you know, the, you have to, it has to be a square.

So then I made some sort of collage with the painting and yeah, the way that I've been doing these paintings recently has just been, you start, you start and you like let the hand do what it wants to do.

And yeah, You let the paint move around and from there you're like seeing shapes and you're just kind of like letting the image expose itself.

So it's just been this kind of like new technique I've been going for the past few years.
Right.
It's very vibrant.
I can't wait to listen to the album and see how they correlate.
With this painting and this project, what came first and then how did you decide to combine the two? The artwork complementing the music that you had already made.
And I guess, when do you decide that this painting's over or this track list is done and then combine the two? Yeah.

Yeah, so how do you know that the track list is done? Well, I usually start off by having more options and then whittling that down.

So it's like the track list being done is you're just negotiating well how long can I have this be when do I lose my attention does this song work with this one and so we I had to take like a few songs out and because I didn't want it to be you know like an album treated as an album because I really imagine the full length album as being this kind of like sacred idea and like expression so for me, the EPs are always just kind of like these songs that for themselves, like in themselves, they're sacred, but then they are put together in a way that is maybe less thought out or less cohesive than, you know, like the full length album where you really like you're starting off with so much material and then you're whittling it down.

But yeah, I think you just, you just kind of, you have to follow the heart and you start to, playing one song or you imagine one song and then you can hear kind of what comes next.

So then you keep like shifting until you can listen all the way through and feel happy with it.
And then I guess you see parts of that music in the painting or vice versa to pair them together in that way.

I don't know like I made the painting I was already thinking about the album but I don't think I was listening to like a song and being like okay so this little shape here is going to be that but it was all made around the same time so there would be that
