ZZ Top's First Album

Let's pay some respect to him.

Great name, by the way, Frank Beard.

I just love that.

You know I'm a name fan.

I know.

You're a total name freak.

And that wasn't a stage name, because on June 11, 1949, Frank Lee Beard was born in Frankston, Texas.

They got to do albums as artist development.

You know, their first record, um, called First Album, and then Rio Grande Mud and Tres Hombres.

Really, those albums were them developing the sound that they would have later in their career, and laying the basis for everything that would explode on Fandango.

Josh Homme mentioned and talked a little bit about the early days in the documentary, as well as Billy Bob Thornton, who were both prominent voices telling their stories of ZZ Top and what ZZ Top meant to them through both, uh, their worlds as, and Josh Homme being a very, very competent student of rock and roll, made some good points.
