Zosia Mamet

This variation in comic rhythms gives the show a richness that rewards careful viewing.

There are buried treasures in every scene, and one of them is the icky sweet way that Marnie's boyfriend coaxes the mouthguard from her by holding out his hand, grinning, and asking in a voice you would use with a three-year-old, Do you have something for me? The other two friends who round out their foursome are Jessa, Jemima Kirk, a world-traveling sophisticate, and Jessa's cousin and roommate, Shoshana, Zosia Mamet.

Jessa has just moved back to New York after working as a nanny in Paris and has also just found out that she is unintentionally pregnant.

She and Shoshana don't know each other very well and form an odd couple.

The moment when Shoshanna stammers that sometimes Samantha comes out is a brilliantly excruciating depiction of a young person assuming an ill-fitting mantle of sexual sophistication.

Shoshanna is the show's flattest character.

But the writers, as well as Zosia Mamet, the actress who plays her, keep pulling her back from the brink of cartoonishness with scenes like this one, in which her vulnerability is so acute that it becomes touching.

We will find out in the next episode that she is in fact a virgin with very little sexual experience of any kind.

we were like oh my god

we've been kissed by god yeah yeah but none of the other cast members had like been engaging necessarily but then I think yeah Zosia Mamet accepted an invite to collab and Andrew Randall's accepted invite to collab on these like quote things and that like really helped people discover the show but an

amazing PR email came out they said we're we need pr for this movie called molly and max take the universe no so

molly and max in the future is the name of the film and this guy sent us a dm being like i love your podcast i just made a movie with zasha this past summer that i'm trying to promote like it's an indie film would you ever have her on the podcast And I'm like, would we ever have her on the podcast? I guess we'll have to think about it.

And then I'm on this show, this horsey corset show.

I had an interview with Zosia Mamet the other day, and she said, you're on a horsey corset show.

I was like, I am on a horsey corset show.

It's a pioneer show with corsets and horses.

you know.

Zosia Mamet's dad is David Mamet, the playwright.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Jed Apatow.

Allison Williams, Joy McCurk, Zosia Mamet.

Let me say this guest one time.

Andrew Rannells, Jed Apatow returning as executive producer.

Okay.

Anyway, so Girls is coming back, and that's why I did that reference, because last week, I think last Friday, Lena Dunham announced that Girls with the entire original cast, Alison Williams, Jimmy McCurk, and Lena, of course, and Zosia Mamet would be returning for five episodes.

And I've had several people, including our producer Marlee, who have said that Lena's memoir is fantastic.

That's what I've heard, too.

I know, it's very smart.

And they also, so it was Lena Dunham, Jemima Kirk, Alison Williams, Zosia Mamet, and Andrew Rannells were in the video.

So I was like, oh, good.

Do they each get one episode? Is it like the Beatles movies, but for the girls five?

The news was announced in a social media post by Lena Dunham in like a fake Zoom call, like we're getting the band back together.

So Lena called her co-stars Alison Williams, who plays Marnie Michaels, Jemima Kirk, who obviously plays Jessa, Zosia Mamet, who plays Shoshana as well, and also Andrew Rannells, who played Elijah Krantz.

Mm-hmm.

It was so sweet seeing those characters again because they were playing themselves as actors but also like leaning into their characters a bit.
