We're going to be providing some power tips.

We're going to be, you know, entering some conversation starters, some questions, just some things to get us all thinking about how we can use JAWS, ZoomText, and Fusion more efficiently and some of the features that we're going to be talking about.

All right, so again, this is a private group.

Well, yeah, exactly.

And how many times have we heard the stories of people who start off with magnification, whether it be the Windows magnifier or maybe something like ZoomText, but then it comes to a point where they've got to learn the screen reader and it's just impossible.

Whereas with this, first off, it's free, but also you've got both in one.

Uh, the only other things I know that do this, that sort of combine the two, uh, uh, supernova and fusion, which of course they, they cost a fair bit.

You know what I mean? It's like not that I was taking anything for granted, but if you don't know and you don't think about it, then I mean, hello, how would you even know? But over time, like, you know, for me specifically now, you know, white, like white on the back of a computer is like really blinding.

So dark mode is my friend, you know, using ZoomText and Fusion.

So that's helping me now, too, not to get off course, but that's, you know, definitely been a haven of helpness.

My original, my degree is in recreational therapy.

That's the second iteration of JAWS I got was Fusion.

Remember when that came out, it was JAWS and ZoomText together.

Yeah.

And I remember when JAWS would start up, I would open up Fusion because that's what I, you know, the application was called Fusion.

So I opened up Fusion.

Clearly that was a mistake because what it did was it opened up JAWS and ZoomText all at once.

And it was a little bit weird, you know, because one was trying to talk over the other and they were trying to compete with each other.

I don't quite understand why that was meant to work together.

When you were doing it online, did you have like Vision Australia, someone like that help you with computer programs? What were you using then so people understand that, you know, you weren't just seeing a computer like sighted people were using something like Zoom or Dragon or whatever it is?

Yeah, so I had, I think it's called ZoomText.

Yep,

ZoomText, yep.

Now I just rely on the Windows button and the plus symbol next to Backspace.

Yep.

They helped me out essentially when I was, uh, diagnosed about five years ago.

I was given access to work and given ZoomText and sent on my merry way.

Um, I think it was a Wednesday from memory, and when it kinda came through and...

but about the next week, I, again, still had no idea what to do.

Had to wait till the next day so, to, so somebody could tell my IT department what the, the long kind of code was to authorize the software, um, 'cause I couldn't do it by that point.

And, um, I got on a call with one of the guys at Triple-Tap Tech, and they kind of gave me the basics of ZoomText.

Um, and then kind of went into the, the more in-depth stuff in another call.

Um, I even popped into the office once.

Throughout the month, then I will make changes, adjust things, add things to, for example, my notifications as things change on applications.

And I want to then create a new SBAC file just before I get a new version of JAWS, Fusion, or ZoomText.

So going back to unpacking things, what goes into settings? What gets synchronized or exported, imported? And are there things that will not get exported or imported?

Well, user settings that are in your user profile in Windows that are in the Freedom Scientific folder for the JAWS product, for example, will be taken as a whole into the settings.

Most of them are not really the heavy screen reader users.

It's the people who are using ZoomText.

Is that because their stupid Gen Z memories can't remember more than four commands?
