And it was very difficult to write.

She's been through all of this before.

We'd obviously had the George Romero movies and others like that.

But it was definitely a real change in tone, wasn't it, from what had come before? The Romero films were quite sombre, and even the films that had tried to take off the Romero films, like Zombie Flesh Eaters and things like that, were serious, sombre films, whereas this was just completely gonzo and off the wall.

But is it a zombie film, though? I think it's more of a demon film.

I always think that.

Zombie 2, Zombie 3, or just Zombie depending.

Let's celebrate the horror legacy of Lucio Fulci today.

I will be looking at The Psychic, Zombie, City of the Living Dead, The Beyond, and Voices from Beyond.

Let the gore begin.

The Psychic from 1977 will kick this off.

The Psychic is definitely one of Fulci's strongest giallos and is easily 4 stars out of 5.

If you want to see a good Fulci giallo that doesn't rely on gore effects, definitely check this one out.

Zombie from 1979 is up next.

This is also known as Zombie 2 and Zombie Flesh Eaters.

So I'm sure Abel Ferrara had no intention of this happening.

And when I've spoken to, actually, I spoke to Uli Lammel, uh director of the black generation who made the boogeyman or the bogeyman and all the terrible bogeyman sequels um that about um and asked him about the video nasty thing and he just he was incredulous that his film had been banned in the united kingdom um so so yes it's a very strange time but yes it kind of driller killer i can see um uh for most people renting it would have been completely flummoxed by the movie to be honest it's certainly not a popcorn horror movie in the way that many other I don't know if many other films like Zombie Holocaust or Zombie Flesh Eaters are much more popcorn movies, aren't they, compared to this? And Evil Dead.

Or The Evil Dead, yes, exactly.

So Driller Killer is definitely an outlier there.

So look, Zombi, also known as-- So zombie spelled with an E, okay? Is also known as Zombi 2, just with an I, uh, i- in Italy.
