It is.

I was filming in a, a movie called Nouvelle Vague in Paris a coup- like two years ago, and I was playing a real person.

I was playing Jean Seberg, and we were visiting...

It's not as cool as your, your daughter's story, but we were visiting...

It was pouring rain.

We weren't gonna get the day.

Me and the director, Richard Linklater, realized that the cer- the cemetery where Jean Seberg was buried was right next door.

Yes.

I could have my parrot."

[laughs] Yeah.

No, but we had a, we would go to Montana every winter, and it was beautiful.

Our, um, our grandparents lived out there and had an, and my, our grandma was an artist, and we'd get to...

You know, it was beautiful and special and very different, a very different experience, obviously, to growing up in LA.

And yeah.

That was our mom's recipe.

Yeah.

I give them this.

OK, we were talking about David Wayne, who I you asked me a question.

Does he know that he is making or has made some of the best comedies? And I think.

I imagine yes.

And I think he has like deep belief in himself and what he does.

I'd love to know the connection of what you're attracted to in the projects you take and if you're proud of what you've done in them.

Yes.

Just, it's, uh, for many, many reasons.

Um, but y- that was the one [laughs] that came to mind.

And then I'm really, I, this is not in the same wavelength, but I'm just fascinated by [laughs] how they shot The Grinch.

[laughs] All the Dutch angles.

Like it, yeah.

Um, no, I think any of the, like, you, you mentioned efforts, any of the stuff that's outside the dialogue when they ask for the, "Okay, scream or jump," or, you know, you, they need to get sort of a series of different, um, miscellaneous emotions and physicalities.

That, you feel fucking crazy.

Yeah

... from him, so generous and kind and smart, and it's no surprise that he's gone on to write such amazing f- and direct such amazing films.

Um, that's v- very apparent to anyone that's worked with him from an acting capacity how like deep and smart and like, uh, brilliant actually he is.

Mm-hmm

... actually one of like the, the great creative minds we have.

Um, it's just an unbelievable feat that he has accomplished with this movie and all of the movies that he's done.

So I really was just, uh, like a fan getting to meet him-

Yeah

... uh, made in this, you know, with, with, uh, it, without it being a very small, low-budget movie.

And for them to believe in Leah's vision and to put us in it, and we're not, you know, these, um, mega movie stars [laughs] who have, like-

What is it like to sort of move into m- content that is going into a more adult territory?

I, I've been really, um, surprised, pleasantly surprised, uh, at how much more interesting the parts, uh, and the projects [laughs] that I've b- you know, been getting as I got older.

I thought, you know, there was a lot of fear instilled in me as a young actress.

What happens when you get older? [laughs] Um, the fear is still there, don't worry.

[laughs]

How much did you draw on your own dynamic?

Well, she's my best friend in the entire world.

So when I read this, I just fell in love with it because I love my sister so much.

Yeah, and the premise is it's about a girl who's coping with the loss of her sister and is sending her voicemails chronicling her life and dating and the chaos of everything.

And unbeknownst to her, the number gets reassigned to a man named Wes who starts listening to her and falls in love with her.

They're the same voicemail every time, but I say, I,

That's funny.

I have one from my grandma that I listen to all the time.
