Today's guest has spent more than three decades commercializing advanced materials across semiconductors, solar, and energy storage.

Todd Hickenbotham is CEO of ZincFive, a company building nickel zinc battery systems for immediate power and mission-critical infrastructure.

What I found especially interesting about Todd's story is the pattern running through his career.

Technologies often end up creating their biggest value somewhere very different from where people originally expected.

And so commercializing IP-protected advanced materials, ATMI, it was the same.

We were doing mostly semiconductor flat panel.

And then coming to, to ZincFive, which was previously PowerGenix, to me, fundamentally, it was a big portfolio of materials, [chuckles] not necessarily battery company.

So that's the common link as far as the career goes.
