Jiang Wan'an visited the Public Works Committee of the City Council and faced ridicule from the councilors because of an incident the previous Saturday evening.

Jiang had attended a dinner at Fude Temple in Zhongshan District, where he received a sugar cane from temple chairman Lin Chunyu.

But amid the ruckus, he forgot the gift at the temple.

When I saw him, I was quite angry about whether the sugar cane was left or thrown here.

Taipei Jiang Wan-an has apologized after a sugarcane given to him by a local temple was found discarded outside the temple, an episode that has become an instant flashpoint in the city's mayoral race.

At a banquet on September twenty-sixth marking the birthday of the earth god at a temple in Zhongshan District, both Jiang and his DPP rival Shen Bo-chang were presented with sugarcanes by the temple chairman.

The chairman publicly ribbed the incumbent, telling him that after he became, he stopped coming.

Jiang's sugarcane had roughly forty dense nodes, while Shen's looked ordinary.

Now another crime story.

A forty-one-year-old man carrying three fruit knives walked into a Fubon Life office in Taipei's Zhongshan District and attacked a thirty-eight-year-old insurance agent in the restroom, leaving both men seriously injured.

The agent suffered wounds to the back of his neck, chest, thighs, and wrists and required a tracheotomy.

The suspect was also injured during the struggle.
