Zero-energy building

Prior to this, I was at the Department of Energy.

I was there for four and a half years, and in my last two years, I oversaw the once-was-named Zero Energy Ready Homes program.

And so we really loved working with EBA and continue to support the work that you all are doing in the

residential space.

And our mission is to provide the tools and support needed to drive transformation towards a more regenerative, resilient, and just building industry.

And we do this by focusing on three levers, buildings, products, and organizations, or really the people within the organizations.

We operate three building certification programs, the Living Building Challenge, Zero Carbon Certification, and Zero Energy Certification, as well as a product certification, the Living Product Challenge, and a product transparency label called Declare.

We also host a transparency label for organizations called Just.

I'm a certified Passive House Consultant Architect in New York City.

So fun to be in live in Dublin after the Zero Energy Building Conference.

I was psyched to be here because I wrote a book on Passive House, like in 2013 it came out.

And I remember the basis was studying how Europe was mandating it.

And then they had NSEBs, Nearly Zero Energy Building, and now we're at Zero Energy Building.

So to be able to be here now that many years later and hear how they're launching things is exciting for me to see that we're at that point, but also back for New York City.
