I mean, let's talk about 2024 for a second.

Like, remember how much Joey Wendell and Zach Short and those guys were getting run, like, early in the year? And you're like, they can't be the options.

I'm not even vouching that Jose Iglesias should have been up earlier.

It's just like, these were the guys that you brought in and were like, going to be on the 2024 Mets.

Good for the two RBIs, but still no hits.

Let's get to six games from Zach Short, who we remember from a year and a half ago And then he was gone, and then he came back.

Zach Short had two appearances with the Mets this season between June 16th and June 24th, and then between July 10th and July 16th.

He was DFA'd multiple times.

He was outright at the Syracuse multiple times.

All right.

I'm not giving him my customary D plus that I've given to Arias and Abanez.

So instead, with Zach Short, I'm going to go D minus.

Let's get to six games from Zach Short, who we remember from a year and a half ago, and then he was gone, and then he came back.

Zach Short had two appearances with the Mets this season between June 16th and June 24th, and then between July 10th and July 16th.

He was DFA'd multiple times.

He was outrighted to Syracuse multiple times.

Uh, Ronnie Mauricio was gonna give an opportunity.

He got hurt.

And so Zach Short was here by circumstances.

But I do think it was valuable to the Mets that Bichette was holding down short.

And if Brett Beatty had swung the bat at all during that stretch, the left side of the Mets infield, the production you were getting would have actually been pretty solid considering the circumstances when typically if any of the past, whatever it's been, five, six years at Lindor was your starting shortstop, when he went down outside of when you got Javi Baez at the trade deadline in 2021, most of the time it would have been Luis Guillorme as your backup shortstop or Vanel Bruan this year or Zach Short, whoever it would have been, it would have been these 4A guys that couldn't really hold down that position.

So the fact that you had Bichette who had the ability to slide over to short, it's not the worst thing in the world to have.

Now you look at the stats.

Yeah, he played nine games for the Mets.

Zach Short.

Zach Short, another recidivist Met.

Right.

Zach Short, you know, his contribution in my mind, uh, to the 2024 Mets from w- from whence he springs, uh, for in recidivism terms, was he was, like, one of those guys running off the bench to crowd.

I should probably remember who drove in the winning run.

The first m- well, after, you know, the, the, the, uh, the Gary Cohn quote from 0 and 5 to OMG when it was 0 and 5 going to just 1 and 5.

They brought up Gabriel Arias, who they claimed off of waivers, gave him at-bats.

You know, even guys like Zach Short were somehow getting the occasional at-bat and on this roster at times during this past season.

And during that time, Ronnie Mauricio was denied any opportunity to prove anything until the last week of the season where he went off for a few home runs.

And as far as his trade value goes, I don't think the Mets will get a lot.

but not least, the fact that he found his way onto the New York Mets again is truly stunning.

And I feel bad because Zach Short grew up a Mets fan.

Definitely super excited to be here.

But I can't believe he keeps getting any opportunities,

So some of the catchers, Riley Adams, PJ Higgins, Sam Huff, infielders, Joey Manessis, Zach Short, outfielders, TJ Freidel, Nolan Jones, Alec Thomas.

That's interesting.

Now, I think Alec Thomas was probably more interesting prior to this season or prior to the meltdown because seeing Jonah Cox, I think they have, you know, between Jonah Cox, Turner Hill, Those types of guys, I think they're all very similar players.

Like, yeah, he was a little injured, banged up to start the season and then he wasn't red hot, but they had guys they could have gone to.

And instead it was like, you know, picking up, you know, a lot of random players, you know, bringing back Zach Short and some of these things.

He did comment on being weak up the middle, but, you know, yeah.

Yeah.

Uh, the defensive profile, uh, plays.

If Zach Short is still in the big leagues, John Peck is going to have a chance to be in the big leagues for several years to come in one way or another.
