... who they just got in that trade, uh, the NCAA won't allow players to come to this.

And the biggest move we keep seeing headline news is the Darnell Nurse trade to the Sharks.

It was a shocker when it happened, sending a 31-year-old veteran defenseman west while bringing back Shakir Mukhamadullin and Zach Sharp.

How do you view that trade now that the dust has settled?

It's a calculated risk.

But look at who they brought in.

Shakir Mukhamadullin is a mobile defender.

Zach Sharp adds size.

It's a different flavor, not necessarily a weaker one.

And, and, you know, I'm sure we're gonna recognize Darnell when he comes back to Edmonton.

Keep an eye on Zach Sharp.

By sending him to the San Jose Sharks, the Oilers kept him in the Western Conference, but completely altered their blue line structure.

They brought back Shakir Mukhamadullin and Zach Sharp.

So, while they remain a top-tier offensive team, their defensive ceiling might be lower than last year.

So second place feels accurate, but maybe slightly inflated given the payroll trim and the loss of a veteran defenseman.

You know, Babcock is gonna have somewhat of a revamped defense to work with.

Darnell Nurse and his $9.5 million contract was traded to San Jose on July 1st in exchange for Shakir Mukhamadullin and Zach Sharp, both defensemen.

They also Signed Ryan Shea from the Pittsburgh Penguins, five years at four million per.

In terms of the other players that they managed to keep on board from the RFA area, Spencer Stastny, defenseman, one year at a million and a half, and Colton Dach.

Um, that, a lot of excitement with the flexibility for what he can bring.

Zach Sharp is also the other player we got.

He's a prospect who's at the Western Michigan University and, uh, I've known him for a long time-

Um, so you know, he's, uh, it's a position that's important for us.

Our defensive prospect group is not very strong right now, so I think the opportunity's there for Zach and, um, uh, he's got, he's got a chance for sure.

And through Zach Sharp in that clip as well, he was the other defenseman that the Edmonton Oilers acquired from the Darnell Nurse trade.
