Jim PilotHOST
17:44
Yeah, I'm exaggerating, of course.
Jim PilotHOST
17:47
But somebody like a veteran pitcher who isn't being mocked to St. Louis by any major sports outlets, but whose underlying traits possess that exact brand of Heimblum analytical magic... is out there, then you definitely should take a look, especially if it's somebody like Zach Little.
Jim PilotHOST
18:11
So most definitely, veteran leadership can matter.
Jim PilotHOST
18:16
Experienced players can help younger teammates prepare.
Jeff CarrHOST
20:13
It's just good, solid baseball, and we haven't seen the Reds play that for a long time.
Greg KuffnerGUEST
20:19
Yeah, and I think these two teams also just do such a good job of – um development um they do such like the Rays they're pitching they get they they get their pitchers to perform better than they are like yes look at who the Reds traded for last year at the deadline Zach Littell who was having a career year with the Rays Zach Littell since he's left the Rays he was fine with the Reds this year he was like one of the worst pitchers in baseball um Nick Martinez goes over there and like you said like Reds fans were like we we enjoyed Nick Martinez like he was he was good but he wasn't great and this year he started game one of the world series and it's like that's what it just and just talking the same way about the brewers like how many times do you see the brewers top prospects come up and flame out like it seems like every one of those guys that comes out all of a sudden they're hitting ground balls through the infield and they're hitting 300 or 280 and you're like how do they keep doing this but i think it just goes to show of like if it's their scouting department or if it's their coaches or whatever it is, they're doing something right in developing these guys because they're doing things that when these guys go other places or in the Brewers' sense, their prospects always seem to develop.
Greg KuffnerGUEST
21:28
Where the Reds, we have so many prospects that come up and they kind of flail out.
Greg KuffnerGUEST
21:33
It's so impressive what both organizations kind of get out of their minor league system and big league system, to be honest.
Colton SwansonHOST
12:45
Had a 1.59 ERA in nine games.
Colton SwansonHOST
12:48
Zach Littell, a 2.68 in 29 games.
Colton SwansonHOST
12:50
Like, I, I think that the rosters can be comparable enough where you can look at the, the 2019 Minnesota Twins, the year that Baldelli won the, um, won the Rookie of the Year, and you can say 101 and 61 was their record.
Colton SwansonHOST
13:10
I could see the Mariners going for 100 wins next year.
Alex PavlovicHOST
40:25
So the Giants have actually been really good over the years at doing this.
Alex PavlovicHOST
40:28
And even beyond that, you go to the '21 team and like Dom Leone and Zach Littell and Harwin Garcia and all those guys and, and they just didn't do it this year.
Alex PavlovicHOST
40:36
But Milwaukee has, has been good at it.
Alex PavlovicHOST
40:38
And that, yeah, you mentioned McGill.
Ryan ClaryHOST
19:21
And right now, the Nationals don't really have that guy.
Ryan ClaryHOST
19:24
And they had Miles Mikolas and Zack Littell who were kind of those guys, but they weren't making the money that was making it some massive ordeal.
Ryan ClaryHOST
19:35
Like they're not renting out Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and covering the $15,000 bill or whatever it is.
Ryan ClaryHOST
19:40
I'm not saying they weren't doing that, but it's a little bit different when you're signing a one-year, $5 million contract compared to a seven-year, $200 million contract.
Kevin FranzenGUEST
18:51
Same on that.
Kevin FranzenGUEST
18:52
I, I think ultimately, uh, he would be an upgrade from Zack Littell and Miles Michaelis.
Spencer NusbaumHOST
18:58
Yes.
Kevin FranzenGUEST
18:58
Right? But that would've been for, I think, the, the, the past year.
Jason ColletteGUEST
47:19
And Kate Horton was coming out three rounds ahead of everybody else.
Jason ColletteGUEST
47:23
And that's one of the things I wish there was a way for us to like easily hide the names as they just look at the stats, where are you going to take these guys? But Zach Gallin, Mitch Keller, kikuchi simeon woods richardson zach littell noah cameron noah cameron's like the only good story on this and noah cameron only turned around his season over the last 10 weeks because early on he looked like a disaster too and then he went on that run but so he looked at this but then i closed that and said i'd be remiss if i didn't mention the fact that horton went from 34.1 innings to 147 year over year that's a 328 percent increase with that and I was running away from this and that's why I put these kind of things out there to say you got to keep this in mind because it happens I don't like I'm not trying to predict injury I'm just trying to predict what what if this guy gets a tired arm and whatnot this could be one of those reasons why and you know it worked out for Horton I didn't want it to I don't like when it does.
Jason ColletteGUEST
48:18
I don't like when baseball is losing talented pitchers to things like this.
Jason ColletteGUEST
48:22
But this is what happens.
Jason AndersonHOST
15:57
And they overhauled a good portion of their pitching staff in general.
Jason AndersonHOST
16:02
The five guys that were in the rotation last year, Pepeo, Boz, Rasmussen, Littell, and Taj Bradley.
Jason AndersonHOST
16:09
Only one of those players is in the rotation this year.
Jason AndersonHOST
16:12
And that's Rasmussen.
Jon AndersonHOST
37:27
But like, this is not the point of what we're talking about at all.
Jon AndersonHOST
37:32
But I do think it'll end up being a little bit overstated because the reason for this is because the Nationals' pitching was so horrendous, especially at the beginning of the year with Littell and Michaelis and the bullpen just being so, so bad.
Jon AndersonHOST
37:43
So you don't wanna read too much into park factor, but it's definitely a better place to come up than most spots, so.
Tim KanakHOST
37:49
Yeah.
Jon AndersonHOST
37:26
It's, it still is a good thing, but like, this is not the point of what we're talking about at all.
Jon AndersonHOST
37:32
But I do think it'll end up being a little bit overstated because the reason for this is because the Nationals' pitching was so horrendous, especially at the beginning of the year with Littell and Michaelis and the bullpen just being so, so bad.

Yeah.
