Zachary Ray Sherman

[laughs]

Uh, player one today is, uh, Zachary Ray Sherman.

You may know Zachary from the FX drama Under the Banner of Heaven, or perhaps from last year's awesome horror thriller, uh, Desert.

Hi, Zach.

Uh, okay.

Well, yes, that is awesome.

Um, thanks so much to Zachary Ray Sherman and Gracie Gillam and Olivia Luccardi for taking some time out of their busy lives to play, um, uh, some inane trivia-

Whoo

How did you come to cast Caleb?

So Caleb is Zachary Ray Sherman.

He's just a phenomenal actor.

Yeah, people don't really, maybe aren't really familiar with him yet, but I feel like that's going to change just because he's really an incredible actor.

they pulled that off really well.

They did such a nice job.

And then Zachary Ray Sherman who plays Caleb is not a musician, but we kind of, we kind of fake through it, you know, with his, he tends to play with his back to the camera.

Those are some of the tricks that we did, which is not so uncommon, you know, for a guitarist, for a bass player to do guitarist or bass player.

Then he's like, can I interview you at work? And then his first question is just like, are you single? Are you available? So it's very odd.

The thing that kept me interested in this movie was actually really the lead actor who is the psychotic character from A Desert, our friend's film, A Desert last year, Zachary Ray Sherman.

And in this, I did not know he was in this movie when I pushed play.

So it was like a nice surprise to realize he was the lead and he is like... somewhere between a realistic version of Psycho and like kind of somebody you all know from high school, for sure.

Did you have an approach to either writing or directing that performance to get us to that point?

I'm glad that you brought that up specifically because Zachary Ray Sherman, he plays the role of Caleb, of which you speak.

uh he's just he's an incredible actor um and he's also um and then saying this to all you filmmakers out there um he's an incredible collaborator so he was so great to work with uh we worked so much we worked for so much and for so long on caleb on the character of Caleb, just texts and email threads for well over a year before we even got into production.

Zachary just wants to get, he wants to get into the character.
