Yutyrannus

[laughs]

Well, we're starting off with this epic winter, which we saw that and we thought, "Oh, Yutyrannus."

Mm-hmm.

Which they did show Yutyrannus, and they gave it blue eyes, and of course, it's very fuzzy.

Yeah.

But they started with the sauropods migrating in the cold, which I thought was funny because it's like, "Empire," and like look at them being miserable-

... trudging along in the snow.

And I was interested in this, the climate side of things, because it was very snowy, very snowy, like, you know, enough that the sauropods are noticeably being encumbered a little bit by the depth of the snow.

We don't have evidence that T. rex had feathers, but we have fossils of other dinosaurs that are close relatives of T. rex.

They include a Chinese dinosaur called Yutyrannus, and Yutyrannus is an exciting fossil discovery because the fossil preserves the fossilized skin and a covering of fur-like structures that are quite similar to feathers, and that we call protofeathers.

[upbeat music]

That's a fun word, Orbiters, protofeathers.
