Beautiful drive across the desert.

About halfway is Yuma.

Not much to do there.

No great restaurants.

It's never the place Jerry and Esther decide to stay.

But they pass through Yuma every time on their way.

When they get to Yuma, they don't belittle themselves for not being in Phoenix.

They accept that it's part of the journey.

On the campaign trail, Biggs also touts the need to augment the state's water supply, specifically with plans to desalinate ocean water, an idea that was spearheaded by Arizona's last Republican governor, Doug Ducey.

As governor, Biggs says he'll reopen a shuttered desalination plant in Yuma, hopefully with the help of federal funding.

The Yuma desalting plant was built in 1992 and is designed to purify salty agricultural runoff.

When I talked to the Bureau of Reclamation, they told me that, uh, we should apply for a grant, and we think it's gonna be pretty expensive, but there is some money there.

If we can get that grant, we could actually get the desalt, uh, desalt facility up and running.

know, we represent a legislative district or hope to represent, you know, one out of 30 districts in the state, but we're expanding our efforts.

You will most likely see us in Yuma between now and November.

We will be in Goodyear.

We will be in Mesa because this is bigger than us.

Again, five events, four days, that one.

February 15th, coexisting in Yuma, Arizona.

And then March 6th and 7th, brand new on the calendar, brand new for the Basketball Weeks, is Munzee Madness back in California, the longest running Munzee mega event in the world.

There it is right there.

I got to Arizona in 2003.

I started my career in Yuma in 1999, but I was in the Santa Barbara area.

And when you asked me to be part of this today, you know, sometimes we have to take a walk down memory lane in our brains, right? Where were we? What was our life like? I had just started really a new position up in Santa Barbara.

I'd just been um promoted to be the lead nightside reporter literally like the week before and so you know i didn't have kids back then i wasn't married i was i was single and i remember i was on a walk that morning you know news didn't move as fast as it does now back then Got home, turned on the TV, you know, just like everybody else, and just started crying.

I got to Arizona in 2003.

I started my career in Yuma in 1999, but I was in the Santa Barbara area.

And when you asked me to be part of this today, you know, sometimes we have to take a walk down memory lane in our brains, right? Where were we? What was our life like? I had just started really a new position up in Santa Barbara.

I'd just been... promoted to be the lead nightside reporter, literally like the week before.

And I'm not saying we were perfect, that we didn't make mistakes, that everything was done exactly the way it should've been, but we immediately counterattacked.

And I remember on that day, I was stationed out in Yuma, Arizona, and I just finished the morning physical training.

And as I was finishing up afterwards, I saw on a television the first tower of the World Trade Center fall.

And as I stopped and watched, I saw the second seven thirty-seven impact the west tower of the World Trade Center, and it fall as well.
