On October 14, a delegation from the city of Yuma, led by Mayor Douglas Nichols, traveled to Mexico City to enter a Science, Technology and Innovation-focused Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, with Mexico's Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation, Society.

This landmark MOE sets a framework for collaborative binational work in applied research, technology transfer, talent development and innovation within the four-fronted megaregion of Southwest Arizona, Southeast California, Northern Sonora and Northeastern Baja California.

Mexicali, Baja California serves as a major manufacturing and engineering hub for North America's aerospace and industry and is partners with UMA on working together to boost both regions.

The Mexico City visit included a second meeting with Mexico's Secretariat of Economy Aeronautical and Space Industry regarding the four-fronted region's growing aerospace potential, anchored in the Yuma Spaceport Project.

The Yuma delegation and secretariat discussed a future MOE focused on the Yuma Spaceport Project and the Sonora Arizona Aerospace Corridor.

Its aim will be to strengthen supply chains, attract investment and build high-value industry on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Attendees included senior representatives of the Secretariat of Economy's Global Economic Intelligence Unit, Mexican Air Force officers, representative of Mexico's National Aerospace Forum, and representatives of Mexico's Federation of Aerospace Industries, FEMIA, bringing together government, defense sector and industry stakeholders.

A lot of these coyotes, the smugglers, you know, the transfers, they adapt.

Some of the most patriotic Americans, I've been to Yuma recently, I know what it's like.

Some of the most patriotic Americans are in that area.

And after high school, I went off to college to study journalism and I ended up getting my first job in TV the day after I graduated college.

And it was in Yuma.

Yuma, Arizona.

Yuma was my first TV job because, you know, usually you have to start out in a little space.

But you know what? Yuma was a great news town because we had military stories and we had border stories.

In fact, I was like 22 years old anchoring a newscast and I was sent on assignment to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean to do a Harrier jet training.

Yeah, on a Royal Navy carrier.

I was thinking it was much further than that.

I'm right on the edge of Arizona, like right in the border of California and Arizona and Yuma.

It's a little small town.

So how did you hear about the job at Card?

I was at a contest some years ago.

in Yuma and one of the best West coast teams, um, was at the same contest directly across from me.

And even though we weren't competing like head to head per se, um, just having them across elevated my senses and like, and everything else.

And we did extremely well at that contest.

Uh, I just, um, I hope and pray that, uh, that those that didn't think 414 was good, get the message and memo on this.

Um, there are, um, so many things on this ballot that that can cost money and uh and i you know and as we know tucson electric power franchise agreement uh should not cost us anything uh but there there are things on this ballot that that are really problematic and the the most egregious of those you know yuma asked i think you when you were here jay you told us yuma asked for what a one percent change
