yeah this was i i'm this was you know new i seem to start i'm starting to see it more in the news that more uh communities are doing this now uh and it's it's really great it's it really is easy you don't think about it every kid deserves a chance to go out and enjoy and have a great halloween you know and how many people have costumes laying around that are you know gently used you know they used it once they're saving it you know get it out of the house and give it to somebody else that really could use that right um that's great and they're even doing for pets now too oh wow i didn't know that yeah they are yeah no they are they literally i swear to you they are absolutely doing it for pets now as well which is uh pretty neat i mean everybody's included that is for sure uh they're gonna have many things on sale at the eb day as well uh so you can go check that out we have long-sleeve shirts uh short-sleeve shirts outdoor blankets and

i think that if i'm not mistaking a lot of the money that's raised on that goes to the um the the Youth Council.

The first thing was a swearing-in of the new Mayor's Youth Council.

Very cool ceremony for the kids.

I want to say congratulations to them for being on the Mayor's Youth Council this year.

The health insurance renewal.

Autumn and Bruce Robinson, very impressive, doing double duty, actually went – to the South Haven meeting to propose the insurance, left that meeting because it was basically the second and third thing on the agenda, and made it back to the Hernando meeting.

Villarino estimates the build time to be a year to a year and a half and hopes to have a groundbreaking soon.

The 2026-27 Yucca Valley Youth Commission filled the Yucca room with a total of 25 applicants this year.

New lead staff member Celeste Hildebrand presented the staff report.

She says that this year there were 11 first-time applicants joining 14 returning students, some on their fifth year.

The group was comprised of 20 high school students and five middle school students, and the municipal code that limits the Youth Commission to 20 members was waived to allow all applicants in.

Each potential Youth Commission member introduced themselves and gave a short reason as to why they want to be on the Youth Commission.

After a big group photo, council members all shared their praise for the Youth Commission, past and present.

All right, our first item of business this evening is the first reading of ordinance number 1488.

This is amendments to the Ridgefield Municipal Code regarding the Youth Commission, and this is gonna be led by Ms. Lee Nottener, who's our deputy city manager.

Actually, the second item on the agenda is also about youth commission.

And that's about the rules of changes to the rules of procedure.

By necessity, there's a lot of overlap between the changes in a code and in rules of procedure.

But when I get to the end of the presentation, it will be necessary to take action as if they were two separate items.

The City of Columbia has welcomed the 2026-2027 class of the Columbia Mayor's Youth Council, bringing together high school juniors and seniors from across Murray County for a 10-month program focused on local government.

The Columbia Mayor's Youth Council is entering its sixth year.

Throughout the program, students will take part in hands-on experiences, guided discussions, and opportunities to interact directly with city leaders while learning how city government operates.

The class held its first meeting Wednesday evening at Columbia City Hall, where students were introduced to Mayor Chas Mulder and Assistant City Manager Thad Jablonski.

As part of the program, the students will visit and learn about all 12 City of Columbia departments and the services they provide to the community.

The 2026-27 Columbia Mayor's Youth Council members are Alyssa Davis, Autumn Crunk, Brayden McCrary, Madison Haywood, Jalen Gill, Ava Sutton, Carson Woodford, Carter Cornett, Dalton Seal, Demetria Martin, Emily Jackson, Grace Duggar, Gretchen Walbrock, John Babcock, Kelsey Judd, Layla Webster, Nyla Pointer, Robert McKay, Samuel Shull, Sasha Saban, Valeria Agramonte, and William Welchel.

O'Charlie's Restaurant and Bar, the Nashville-based casual dining chain, is reportedly preparing to close its remaining restaurants across the country, including eight locations in Middle Tennessee.
