Young Dracula

What you said about her, I do have to wonder if that was the show kind of capitalizing on something of a nascent trend at CBBC at the time, because this came out the same year as Tracy Beaker, a show which dealt even more heavily with child loneliness and neglectful parenting, and was a massive hit for the network right out of the gate, spawning an entire franchise.

And then later, selfish, neglectful parents, and especially mothers, would continue to crop up in other CBBC shows, like Young Dracula and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

I don't know.

Maybe that was just the narrative trend at the time, an easy win of creating tension between mother and child.
