Yonex

I, I...

The day after I lost, we started looking into how, how we can get the ball for Tokyo/Shanghai, which is a Yonex ball.

Um, unfortunately it's not available in the US, so we had to like special order them.

So I just got them yesterday, so I started-

It's, it's really, it's just really frustrating as, as like a pro to just have to deal with like not being able to practice in similar conditions to what you'll actually play in when it matters.

And what about we've seen a lot of racket changes, which when I was still playing, which is now a long time ago, in the 1800s.

But when I was still playing, I remember Wozniacki changing, switching from Babolat to Yonex, and was the scandal of the century that somebody would do that.

And in the last two years, it's gotten a lot more frequent.

Did not love the brown.

Um, and then the worst that I've seen, I mean, Yonex had some monstrosities.

That kind of like one shoulder sort of like looked like your really embarrassing sort of like cocktail dress that your drunk aunt wears at a wedding.

Mm.

It was truly terrible, that purple one, and I think she was [laughs] she wore it once and never again, Rybakina, and then she switched to the yellow one.

But I mean, I was gonna put this in my, like, most room for improvement, but, like, Yonex on match kits.

I mean, they make good rackets, but come on.

Hmm, interesting.

So like the courts are all brand new.

They use the, the Yonex balls that has like, uh, Shanghai...

I don't even know what it says.

Let me see.

A man who loves to smash rackets.

He'll be fined by Yonex a lot because they fine their players if they smash a racket.

He's temperamental.

But Big Sasha, he's played some massive five-setters in this tournament, the top seed.

I mean, just massive.

I mean, and I noticed the Yonex in her, in her hand.

I was going to ask you about that.

What, what, what's, what's going on?

She switched to the Yonex last year.

Once you want to show it open.

She had it.

Yonex is solid from Stan and Rude.

Nothing

crazy.

I wouldn't give it two massives, you know? 'Cause Fils, look, I mean, he's w- I'm, I'm as big of a believer as anybody out there w- on Fils.

Like, I think he could do big things, could win Slams, could potentially, you know, be in that conversation with, uh, Carlos and the Yonex just from his game style.

But he can't put it together week after week and, you know, he wins Cincinnati and you're like, "Okay, like that's perfect." He wins Cincinatti, now he's gonna have a week off, he's gonna get ready for New York.

Like, things are all, you know, piling up for him to have, you know, a deep run at a Slam and he has not had, you know, good runs at Slams this year.

I don't think she had won a match since she won Queens before Wimbledon, Donna Vekic, so that's pretty big for her.

But also shout-out to Pam, Pam Shriver, um, who has coached Donna Vekic personally, but now works with Donna Vekic as part of the Yonex Mindset program.

Donna Vekic is a, is a, a, a Yonex player, and Pam left Rhode Island this morning, where we all were last night for the inductions at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

She left Rhode Island this morning at 6:00 a.m. and managed to get to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for 9:00 a.m. 9:00 a.m. She was trying to get there for the start of play, and she actually got there two hours early.

And having had the I-95 experience that we all had today, I, I cannot tell you how in awe in, of Pam I am for, for doing that because, well, first and foremost, there was no way we were getting out of bed at 5:30 a.m. this morning.
