Yeah, and how did she end up on death row in Indonesia?

Indonesia?She arrived in Jogjakarta, the Indonesian city, in April of 2010, and the customs officers there found 2.6 kilos of heroin sewn into the lining of her suitcase.

Now, she'd been overseas to work before.

She was desperately looking for work, and she said the job had been arranged for her.

And when we would go back to Indonesia, we would go to places like Borobudur and Prambanan to learn about it, but I was very small.

So I didn't really understand it until I went to the Institute of the Arts in Java, in Yogyakarta and then in Surakarta.

So there I got to watch a lot of the Ramayana ballet.

I used to see a lot of contemporary performances that also depicted scenes from the Ramayana.

It was in Yogyakarta.

It was Jakarta and Yogyakarta.

And Jakarta, yeah.

And Jakarta.

oh my gosh it's like one of my kids they like to stand out in the rain there's no way in heaven i'm gonna stand out in the rain i hate the rain so kudos to you guys for actually liking the rain uh look man i know we're gonna be talking with you but i don't want to be talking about weather and all that good stuff and food or whatever in indonesia how about telling us as to where you're coming from uh from indonesia and you know whether it's raining there and all that good food Tell me about it, my man, before we get to the meat of the episode.

I'm in Yogyakarta.

It's a city, old city in Java Island.

And currently there is no rain in four months.

And even though Bali has become more expensive, you can still find long term rentals for around 300 to 700 a month, particularly outside the most expensive tourist areas.

But head over to the island of Java and the city of Yogyakarta, and this is where Indonesia becomes incredibly cheap.

I've interviewed Kate twice who lives there, and she rents a beautiful home with a spectacular garden for just $150 a month.

Now she's lived there for more than 20 years and has put money into improving the property, which has helped keep her rent unusually low.

It's a really meaningful project for me.

Another public art project I did was I went to Yogyakarta in Indonesia back in 23.

And I spent some time working with an Indonesian glass artist called Ivan Bestari.

Ivan and I share this unshakable passion for recycled glass.
