Um, there's a fascinating comment that Rav Hutner, one of the greats, the Pachad Yitzchok.

Rav Yitzchok Hutner from the previous generation said, he says, "Sometimes we learn Gemara, and if I was writing the Gemara, I could've organized it much better." You know-

People ask, how are you? I remember Rabbi Hutner once says, when someone asks, how are you? And they expect you to say, says, You should ask them, are you asking me if I'm from? Because if I answer Baruch Hashem, you'll know I'm from.

Or do you want to know how I am? If you want to know how I am, I'll tell you how I am.

We use all of these phrases.

But because it's Tishrei, it says, What is that all about? It's very unclear.

I think Rabbi Hutner has in his brushes, maybe he has sources for this.
