Well, have you been to the first Del Taco in Yermo?

There's two.

The very first one was in Yermo.

Yermo, I've been to the ones that are in like Victorville and places like that and Banning that say, we are the first Del Taco, we're original Del Taco.

Yeah.

And they have

They're kind of lying, I think.

I, I do like the history of Del Taco.

It was founded in 1964 as Casa Del Taco in the desert town of Yermo, California, um, by a trio of men, uh, one of whom is Dick Noggle.

Uh, Yermo was a, where it was founded, w- once a bustling town with a Union Pacific rail stop.

And then in 1968, shortly after Casa Del Taco was founded, Interstate 15 opens, which connects Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

You got Amboy.

Death Valley Junction, Yermo.

Wow.

Prim is cool.

30 days were required for the round trip.

In the 80s, a prospector in the then booming Calico Mountains between Barstow and Yermo discovered an ore that puzzled him.

He showed it to others and though the bustling town of Calico was filled with miners from all parts of the world, none could identify it.

Under the blowtorch, the crystalline surface crumbled.

Jack knocked upon the door of a shack he saw there.

The woman who opened the door was Jack's former schoolteacher, Mrs. Ira Sweatman, who was keeping house for her cousin, Adrian Ekberg, there for his health.

Those who travel the Death Valley road by way of Yermo and Cave Spring will remember that every five miles, tacked to stake or bush, were signs that read water and oil.

This was Adrian Ekberg's fine and practical way of aiding the fellow in trouble.
