Yep Roc Records

Hi, I'm Jed Bodwin, and you're listening to Into Music from the KMUW Studios, part of the NPR Podcast Network.

Magnetic East, the Deer Tick Sessions, is the new collaboration between producer, songwriter, and broadcaster Ben Vaughn and the indescribable veteran rock outfit Deer Tick.

Out October 30th on Yep Rock, the LP finds Vaughn setting aside his guitar and only singing across this new batch of songs.

The result is a remarkable statement which breaks new ground for both parties, offering listeners a breathtaking experience which sparks hope for future collaborations between Vaughn and Deertick.

Vaughn recently spoke with me about the making of the album, including his decision not to listen to the band as they worked through his songs, his podcast From the Hats, and his work with Ween on their recently reissued classic LP, 12 Golden Country Greats.

Thank you very much.

You've been listening to a conversation with Ben Vaughn.

His new release with Deer Tick, Magnetic East, The Deer Tick Sessions, is out October 30th via the Yep Rock label.

Oh yes, the Napalm Death is pressed up on the Century Media label.

Okay, speaking of vinyl and labels, this next one is on clear red vinyl and comes to us from Yep Rock.

This is a band fronted by Tammy Elem, and they just put out, like, a great string of records on Kindercore Records, which was an Athens-based label mostly in the '90s and early 2000s, and then they Moved over to Yep Roc a later, a little bit later on.

But this kind of, they sort of came out of the Apples in Stereo crew-

Yeah
