Yeon Sang-ho

Uh, well, my pick this week is a movie called Colony.

This is a Korean, uh, zombie film, um, directed by, uh, Yeon Sang-ho.

I think it ju- it, it just came out in the last couple of weeks.

I, I think maybe I'd seen one trailer for this a while ago and completely forgotten about it, and then went and saw it with some friends and had a great time.

And he found an interesting way to kind of keep it, keep the zombie chase interesting.

Yeah, I think we should point out that the director is Yeon Sang-ho, who did Train to Busan and Peninsula and Soul Station, the prequel to Train to Busan.

Which is an animated movie.

Yeah.

Let's go to Busan!

All right, so Train to Busan, huge hit when it first came out, directed by Yeon Sang Ho, co-written by him as well, along with Park Joo Suk.

And I don't know how much I really need to say.

I mean, it was really genuinely, I remember everybody was talking about it.

It's, it's amazing.

I think it set the tone, not necessarily, just for the makeup and for the look, but also for the performance of the zombies.

Yes, and I think also this is something that the director, Yeon Sang Ho, I think continues to do very well.

I saw it and started looking into it.

I was like, oh, same writer-director as Train to Busan? Yeon Sang-ho? Sorry, Nico.

What? I was really looking forward to it because we love Train to Busan.

And this is another quote unquote zombie movie.

But we are talking about Colony.

It was directed by Yeon Sang-ho, written by Yeon Sang-ho and Choi Kyu-suck, starring Jeon Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Kim Shin-rock, and this- IMDb does not list everybody.

This is, like, an ensemble cast.

Mm.

Hm.

Couldn't find, like, tons of trivia, but I- I found this, which I knew to be true, just wanted to see it written down.

But they said, "To achieve the unique movement of the infected, Director Yeon Sang-ho and his team recruited avant-garde contemporary dance groups to help choreograph the zombies."

In fourth place was Colony, which opened in 411 theaters and brought in $676,000 total.

Colony is the newest film from Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-ho.

It already did big box office numbers in South Korea, which we saw several weeks ago.

It had a pretty good limited release opening here in the United States, and we'll see what it does from here.

And the last thing, I meant to include the trailer, but Train to Busan's Yeon Sang Ho has a new epic zombie flick coming out called Colony that is set to hit theaters this Friday from Wellgo USA.

Yes, I saw this at Fantasia on like a Sunday morning.
