Yaletown

So September 18th, we are doing a nighttime bike ride.

It starts off in Yaletown.

We have a bit of a pre-ride party.

We're going to do a loop of the seawall.

I, I feel like just f- for lifestyle, bars, restaurants, and all that, and just the vibe of the city, it's not as vibrant there.

Uh, you know, places like Yaletown or some of these other pockets, um, in and around the areas I, I think would be a little bit nicer.

You're just kinda right in the middle.

Um, but what's interesting, there's no-- When I pulled the title, there's no mortgage charge on that title.

We won at home.

Wasn't raining, so I'm just coming out thinking, "Let's go." And I'm, I'm, I go down to Yaletown and I'm like, "Where the fuck is everyone?" So I text Peter and he's like, "Dude, I'm throwing the, I'm throwing the Washington Capitals rookie party." I think I've told this story before, but he's like, "Come over here." I'm like, "Nah, I can't do it." And I'm driving home and I got the off day the next day.

I'm like, "Fuck that.

I'm not going home." So over I go and I get in there.

So this would be, you know, uh, very similar to that.

What I do believe is, you know, if, uh, this plebiscite, uh, uh, passes, uh, what you'll have is a situation where if someone's using hard drugs, uh, let's say, uh, in, um, in Yaletown, uh, they will get their, uh, drugs confiscated.

And if that happens enough times, uh, the individual that's using, uh, probably won't use there anymore, and they will, um, go to a different spot.

In addition to that, uh, when we flag individuals, like if, if we see a trend with a certain individual, uh, it's m- most likely that person needs, uh, medical, um, assistance, and we can direct them into the right, um, you know, to the right, uh, resources.

Um, unfortunately, uh, while they agreed to it two years ago, um, Premier Eby has yet to provide a single bed in Vancouver for Vancouverites.

And, uh, we know that, uh, while, uh, the premier may not listen to, uh, a mayor and council every single time, he does listen to the voters.

We already have a, a, a real-life, uh, case study with 900 Helmcken where, um, Premier Eby wanted to drop a drug injection site right into Yaletown there after two had previously failed.

And so, uh, we rallied with local residents, businesses, the downtown BIA, uh, and, and, and thought leaders, and, uh, uh, they put a pause on it, and then, uh, they canceled it, and that was just the neighborhood.

Yeah, but I think they must have done polling.

And they said, well, the Yaletown riding is a swing riding.

And if they, if they call an election, and I think they will call an election in probably November, and whether if they don't, he's probably going to risk himself being leader.

But I think that that riding is in play if they had not made that decision.

I kinda had a bad feeling going into camp.

I had this sick pad in Yaletown, boys.

Right in Yaletown with a hot tub on the patio.

I mean, I, uh, the hockey gods were not gonna allow this to happen.

I, I, the, I was just like, "There's no way." I'm, Alex Burrows was my boy there.

Sweet.

It was nice.

That hot tub in Yaletown, it needed a quick, it needed to be serviced right away.

Some of my fondest childhood memories were in self-storage facilities.

So in Yaletown, when I was out of grade school, like we're literally talking grade four or five, of course, my parents didn't have anywhere to put me because they both were entrepreneurs working in the self-storage business.

So I came to work.

And that means I was put to work throughout the day, sweeping everything.
