The House has adjourned until after the midterm election, but a growing number of issues with support from both parties remain unresolved.

Why does Congress seem unable to finish work that many lawmakers and the public agree should get done? For an update from Capitol Hill, I'm joined now by Mitchell Miller, Capitol Hill correspondent for WTOP.

Mitchell, so great to have you.

Thanks for joining me.

But, uh, Thomas Massie, the Kentucky lawmaker, Republican lawmaker, who introduced the articles of impeachment against him, he was on the floor last week for quite a while, uh, complaining a lot about, uh, the GOP and the fact that every time he seems to bring up something that makes them uncomfortable, the House seems to go on recess.

And he pointed out that that happened also with his legislation linked to the Epstein files.

Mitchell, let's catch up quickly with the Senate.

You have it in ninth place, giving it 131.

So you bumped it up two spaces from where you had it there on your WTOP rankings.

So that's kind of... we're cool how that worked out, I guess.

And technically, it probably moved up a third because you figure there's an extra movie in there now since those rankings came out.

Now, we talked about this last week a little bit when Danny called in and I was filling in, but 99.1 has been suffering for some time now because they were in a market and in a format that was dominated by pretty much the undisputed leader in all news across the country.

That would be WTOP in Washington, D.C. It's consistently the number one station in all of the market, and it's also the number one most listened to and best produced news station in the country.

And here comes little 99.1 WNEW, comparatively low-powered, and competing with WTOP and not doing a very good job at it.

The ratings weren't anywhere close to comparative.

And so I thought it was a matter of time before they did something with it besides making it all news.

1130, the same thing they're running in 1130 in New York? Yeah, they

are.

And I think it's good for CBS to just let WTOP do what WTOP does best and has been doing for many, many years.
