With me today is someone I met.

Four years ago, Ron Shapiro is a retired Procter & Gamble executive who thought he was going to be spending his time kicking back here in Sarasota, and I'm sure you do most of that time.

So anyway, I'm so glad you brought that up.

Everybody, thank you so much for listening.

You've been listening to The Detail on WSLR 96.5 LPFM in Sarasota, Florida, and WBPV 100.1 LPFM in Bradenton, Florida.

Well, in August, there was a primary for the District 1 school board seat, which is an open seat.

It's currently occupied by Bridget Ziegler.

It's amplified differences everywhere.

I was just on a panel, Carrie Seidman's Talk of the Town, and we had a great discussion about dark money in local elections.

And I encourage everybody, if you're interested, go to the archive of WSLR and look at that or listen to that discussion.

But, Jimmy, you know, when I moved here, and I could have moved to anywhere.

Tomorrow, on Saturday, October 10th, I will be in Sarasota for two events.

I'll be joining WSLR News' weekly Talk of the Town roundtable for a discussion on the growing influence of PACs in local elections, which obviously incredibly timely given the stuff we're going to talk about in today's show.

And in the afternoon, I will be the keynote speaker, ooh la la, at a forum organized by the Social Justice Alliance of the Florida Suncoast that is focused on rent-seeking and resource extraction across Florida state governments.

A subject sort of made for seeking rents.

... very thoughtful.

I appreciate that, and thanks for listening to WSLR.

Thanks.

So this was a vote that took place just a couple weeks ago.

So if you're not sure how you're going to vote, October 13th, 6 p.m., Jacaranda Library, which is in Venice, and it's a great venue to meet neighbors and meet Lourdes and learn more about what's going on with the Council of Neighborhood Associations and what's going on on the ballot.

So once again, thanks, Lourdes.
