WrestleMania 42

But sooner rather than later, she did slowly vanish from our screens when her contract expired.

When yes, she returned at WrestleMania 42 alongside Brie Bella and became one half of the Women's Tag Team Champions.

And actually, ever since then, not a lot has gone down either, but really, I'd imagine Paige just as happy to be back in the ring.

But yeah, when you do go through her AEW run, there are certainly some highlights, but I don't think this panned out in the way that many people thought.

But if you're watching the show, And seeing the interactions that are going on between Trick Williams and Sami Zayn and listening to the story that's being told, it is a completely different story.

It's night and day to where we were going in to WrestleMania 42.

To the extent that Trick Williams is bringing up the fact that he beat Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 42 and Sami slightly bothered but generally unmoved by it because this is a different Sami Zayn.

Going into WrestleMania 42, The story was about Trick Williams looking cool and Sami Zayn looking like kind of a dweeb.

Sami Zayn getting mocked.

Sami Zayn getting roasted every week on SmackDown.

Yeah, so they're building up to having a match at Survivor Series and this is them practicing.

Yeah, and we've had them really recently, like a month ago on Sunday night's main event where Randy pulled out the win and We had them at Mania 42, Cody winning and Night of Champions back in 2025 with Cody winning.

But going all the way back to Stardust and 2007 versus Randy, we have Randy in the lead nine to five for televised matches.

I don't know.

And Je'Von Evans has somehow found a way to already have experience in multi-person ladder matches.

He competed at, at, at WrestleMania 42.

I was gonna say, on the biggest stage too.

Yes, in the six-person ladder match.

But basically the news was that, um, the WrestleMania ticket sales declined.

WrestleMania 42 ticket sales declined 45% in terms of revenue as compared to WrestleMania 41.

Of course, both events were held in Las Vegas and, and that, so.

Um, night one, gener- I don't care about the, the total amounts.

Um, 2026 earned them $36 million in ticket revenue, whereas 2025 earned them $66 million in ticket revenue.

So that is a big decline.

Um, and, and they're saying when you adjust for inflation, WrestleMania 42 ranks sixth highest grossing gate, whatever.

Um, and the first night ranks, ranks ninth.

But Roman Reigns defeats LA Knight in a singles match for the World Heavyweight Championship, 26 minutes and 50 seconds.

When I did this preview with Malik, I talked about this being the most vulnerable Roman Reigns is to losing his championship since winning it at WrestleMania 42 last year in Las Vegas, and I believe that is the case, and I believe that was the drama in the match.

They did a great job of building up LA Knight in this match, in this feud, in what...

Triple H's hair is insane, by the way.

It was about a year and a half ago Triple H got on TV or on a camera for streaming, and they were like, well, we messed up.

We promised y'all WrestleMania 42 in New Orleans.

Unfortunately, we're moving it to Vegas, but we'll give y'all money in the bank.

It was supposed to be in August.

We'll do even better the next time.

Well, we saw how that worked out.

And not only did you have a step backwards with WrestleMania 42, but But you also pissed off an entire fan base in New Orleans.

So the McMahon family as a whole is absolutely 1000% psycho.

I mean, look at everything he's accomplished here.

I m- if you just look at the, the story, the matches with Brock Lesnar, like, that in itself, I think makes you a breakout star when you're not only the guy that's having a program with Brock Lesnar, but you're the guy who is defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42 and then retiring Brock Lesnar.

That's about as strong of an endorsement as someone can give to an emerging star.

On top of that, he's the King of the Ring, another huge step in terms of making him a future world champion.
