Albert Manders is here, Pittsburgher, composer, flutist, organizer of concerts in Europe.

But that's all dried up and gone.

Now, the media landscape has been part of that, where you get stuff from YouTube and other places you didn't in the past.

But it did seem that the government had made a sharp enough cut that they were no longer distributing Dutch culture, classical music, to radio stations like WQED-FM.

And we brought those concerts to thousands of listeners, and we're still here.

So it really seemed like a loss to me, I thought.

I think that by hiding such a profound trauma as we all experienced together, certainly some more than others on September the 11th, 2001, that simply putting it aside doesn't lead to healing or growth.

And so I think that Dan Forrest's work, again, this sort of Requiem for the Living will hopefully help kind of turn a corner in our common life and in our processing of this common trauma that we've shared.

Where were you both when the events of 9-11 took place? I was on the air at WQED.

I remember it very vividly because at first we thought that this was possibly an accident of some kind, that a plane had flown in to the World Towers.

And then another one hit less than half an hour later, and we knew it was more than that.
