Cafe 27, Cuba Cabana.

I know Power 96 were giving away tickets.

A couple, a couple of radio stations actually participated in the ticket giveaway, um, for these last two or three months.

So, um, you know, the anticipation has been building, and tonight we gonna set it off at the Hard Rock, Hollywood.

Chilling by the pool with the family, taking it all in, and replaying all the great moments from the concert.

Big shout out to every artist who hit the stage, and everybody behind the scenes who helped bring the whole experience together.

Today feels, it really does though, it feels more like a reunion than an interview.

Mindy Bear and I go way back to Power 96, back in the 90s during an unforgettable period in South Florida radio.

You know, when I arrived around 1990, Mindy and Bo, you guys were already on, right? We

were already on or maybe just on, yeah, because I started in the 80s and then they put Bo and I together on my second go-round at Power 96.

So yeah, we probably were together.

So today we're going to go beyond radio.

Um, but you know, it just, the coolest thing about that song to me is that it took off organically.

I did the demo and, And then they, they, they probably tried to do something with it for a while, but really I was just going about my business and one of my friends in in high school came to school one day and he was like, Shauna, I just heard I Want You on like a midnight remix show on Power 96 in Miami.

And because of course I would bring my demos for my friends to listen to because I was excited and proud.

I had no idea what would happen.

and they and sure enough and like back then he he was able to record it on his cassette he like was up in the middle of the night and like press play and record and and recorded the mix so he brought it after lunch um because we were able to leave school at lunch he brought it to me and i listened to it in his car and sure enough my song was in there that was my voice and um I called the record company or had my mom call the record company.

And they were like, hold on a second.

And they called Power 96.

And then Frank Walsh, I believe, was the program director.

any big city is going to have a lot of traffic

Miami is pretty big, but what they do in Miami now with traffic, they have one lady doing traffic for Power 96 and many other stations, and it's just very quick, and that's it.

Which is another thing.

I mean, if one person is doing traffic for six stations, there's no way they can get all the information out there because they have to gather that information.

Yeah, it was X102.3 when I started working at radio.

And then Power 96 definitely played it off crazy too.

In 1993, they played the song so much.

I'm talking about like 26 to 28 times a day at its peak.

My first time hearing it or playing it, You're taking me back.

We were talking, we brought this up earlier.

Do you guys remember power love hour on power 96? Absolutely.
