Eddie HallGUEST

Everything's got more of a reason.
Eddie HallGUEST
4:50
The priorities have started to change a lot because eight years ago or nine years ago, when I won World's Strongest Man, priorities was work, money, income.
Eddie HallGUEST
5:03
And it's just slowly sort of this balance of work, money, incomes just sort of come down and sitting here and family time and being a dad and being present is just sort of like took over completely almost.
Eddie HallGUEST
5:17
And it's, yeah, it's nice rather than going, you know, getting up in the day.
Bill BeaumontHOST
38:17
The Strongest Man.
Bill BeaumontHOST
38:18
How do you make that exciting? The World's Strongest Man.
Bill BeaumontHOST
38:21
To me, I watched it and it basically, it was full of Vikings lifting logs.
Bill BeaumontHOST
38:28
Would that be right?
John InverdaleGUEST
38:30
Genuinely, if you said to me, you know, top five things that you ever saw that you just went, wow, which would sort of include Mandela and Pienaar in 95, you know, and Super Saturday and Murray winning Wimbledon.
John InverdaleGUEST
38:47
I would say in the context of World's Strongest Man, seeing guys pull a 747 down the runway at Valletta Airport in Malta is quite close to the top because you just stand there and go, how is that humanly possible? They were big, big guys.
John InverdaleGUEST
39:07
And it was and it's a kind of a cliche, but it was so true.
John InverdaleGUEST
39:11
You know, you'd see them at breakfast in the hotel because we always stayed in the same place and the buffet would come out and you'd think, sorry, you know, it's the entire it's the entire population of the San Siro population.
John FuryGUEST
37:35
What they can do is make a few quid, they... and, and entertain men, women, children.
John FuryGUEST
37:41
When Tommy fought Eddie Hall, it was a misfits job, World's Strongest Man against a boxer who was, like, I don't know, 10 stone heavier than Tommy.
John FuryGUEST
37:49
20,000 people, 8 o'clock at night.
John FuryGUEST
37:52
That's, that's, that's what you call interest, isn't it?
James ElkinsHOST
54:36
Those are big boys.
James ElkinsHOST
54:37
If I'm picking both of them up at once, I should be on like World's Strongest Man or something, picking up the Atlas Stones.
James ElkinsHOST
54:43
But
AdamHOST
54:43
no, I mean, at the time, they were 320,
Andrew KeysHOST
21:00
Well, it's the calendar you can buy, is there?
Danny CurtisHOST
21:02
I got very confused by that post because when I first read it, I thought they were implying that World's Strongest Man was being held in Wembley.
Danny CurtisHOST
21:12
And I got minorly excited.
Danny CurtisHOST
21:15
But then if you read it again, it just says the world's strongest men or something like that.

Ash LapidgeHOST
48:41
There's more strength in depth.
Ash LapidgeHOST
48:42
The CrossFit Games every year, apart from the same maybe six to eight people, the field changes massively based on the qualifications in the build-up.
Ash LapidgeHOST
48:51
Whereas World's Strongest Man has 20 out of the 30 names of the same.
Ash LapidgeHOST
48:56
Aren't they really? Well, yeah.
Dave ChristieGUEST
14:06
I've worked with Glambia, who make a lot of the protein bars and products and powders and so on that are there.
Dave ChristieGUEST
14:12
I ran Protein Dynamics, which at the time sponsored The World's Strongest Man.
Dave ChristieGUEST
14:18
And we worked in that world at the same time as well.
Dave ChristieGUEST
14:20
So that gave me a different insight again to working with affiliates and working with these wonderfully fantastic organizations influencers that were also starting up their micro businesses and didn't really know what they were doing.
Robert SantanaHOST
6:31
They typically competed in a sport or a pageant of some sort, whether it was bodybuilding or powerlifting or Olympic weightlifting.
Robert SantanaHOST
6:41
World's Strongest Man also came into play.
Robert SantanaHOST
6:43
But people who went into weight rooms 60 or 70 years ago were training for something.
Robert SantanaHOST
6:50
It was serious.

We're talking about respecting your own time and respecting other people's time.
Robert SantanaHOST
14:09

Robert SantanaHOST
14:16
Now, again, most of my clientele is never going to compete in a beauty pageant with muscles or in a powerlifting competition, at least not seriously, or in the world's strongest man or Olympic weightlifting.
Robert SantanaHOST
14:29
But they all want to look better.
Mitchell HooperGUEST
1:20
And, you know, I just kept getting stronger.
Mitchell HooperGUEST

I got a surprise invite to World's Strongest Man.
Mitchell HooperGUEST

I was a second reserve.
Mitchell HooperGUEST

Mitchell HooperGUEST

And at the World's Strongest Man 2022, I thought it'd be one show and, you know, I'm done and move on with my life.
Mitchell HooperGUEST
1:36
I ended up making the finals, which is pretty uncommon for a... rookie strongman at world's strongest man and then I went on a tear for for about three years where I was on 25 podiums in a row and at this point I've won 10 of the last 13 world championship events that we have so yeah I've been really fortunate and I think it's it's to my benefit that I didn't chase this to become the world's strongest man it wasn't a childhood dream it's just the the experience of getting stronger and that's how I've always approached it and I think that's why I've had a long-term success because I love the process and that the end result is, is a great cherry on top.
Ben KaneHOST
2:12
I love that you mentioned about it being like a good, um, like structure for fitness with strength, because I was a competitive power lifter, but like, even like being out of like a competitive scene of like totals or barbell lifting or whatever, like I still think strength training is like the perfect structure for anyone in fitness.

2:29

Paul FosterHOST
34:43
