World Netball

Fretwell was an unbelievably legendary diamond who was coming back after a baby, a little bit like how we see players go over to the MLS and still carve it up but towards the latter end of their illustrious careers.

Compared to Sophie Fawns, who burst onto the scene, one of the most exciting young goal attacks in World Netball, chooses actually to be approaching her mid-teens over in the UK.

What we still don't have is a ready-made superstar at the top of their game, wanting to come into play in the uk and i don't know if our our funds would allow that but that's what we need to get to and if we want to get to that you need to actually decide whether you want to be genuinely the best league in the world which is what we've heard is one of the quotas or i know it's been denied but it is still to serve england netball long term and i also understand that I think the way that it could go and maybe should go is that you actually reverse that quota and you have a minimum amount of British based players or UK based players that you have to have in your squad.

So we see actually, I think in Premier League football clubs, men's, they have to have at least eight registered homegrown players in their whole registered squad that can be like, I don't know, 20 something, 30.

And that would be from Netball.

It's the host nation that gives you that World Netball umpire coach.

So I'd assume they'd have the same thing, a South African counterpart overseeing it for them.

So it shouldn't matter whether you're North or South.

You know, our vision is really simple.

It's to make New Zealand the undisputed home of World Netball, where the Silver Ferns command the same reverence as the All Blacks.

It's aspirational.

And every girl who picks up a ball believes that she can actually get there.

I think

the goal for World Netball is to get more people on netball pass.

So that's how us in New Zealand, we can watch the SSN and watch the vitality over the Super League over in the UK.

How much

On came Molly Roan, who gave the opening remarks, and one of the things she said specifically, she was, um, at that time trying to be the president.

She was canvassing for the, to be the president of the, of IFNA as it was called.

It's now called World Netball.

It was called IFNA then.

And she said, "I promise there's going to be a world men's netball ch- tournament by twen- by 2005." Now, by 2005, as you all know, I would be 100 years old.
