Working dog

Actually, to be very clear, dogs don't make that cognitive connection.

So working dogs are working for a reward, a third reward.

They really don't know.

They're not looking for bodies.

But dogs, they're just looking for odor.

The problem was during 9-11, all of us that were handling dogs overwork the dogs because it was such a level of an emergency.

So really dogs, working dogs could only work 20 minutes at a time, then they need to rest and they need to get water and so forth.

They could only work 20 minutes, but we all had a tendency because of the urgency and the exigency to overwork them.

I was still active duty.

I was still working dogs.

So my day job of training, having that quick correction, the command voice and everything with him, I had to learn that he's a pet now.

He doesn't need that kind of rigid structure.

I think Nathan might be – Nathan Carr, Tandara, is it? Yeah.

Working Dogs and Stan Hughes, you know, he'd probably put Jeff

or

one of those dogs up.

Yeah.

And...

There's a lot of sentiment that probably come in that I wouldn't say that, um, going forward with producing top, top quality working dogs and, you know, and that's not, that's probably being a bit harsh, but it's reality.

It's, you know, not all of it made the grade and there's a lot of expense.

Yeah.

And Working Dog have never done a bad thing in their lives.

No.

And I am so excited.

I don't know, they're just working dogs and that's just part of everyday work for them.

People like to see it at the show, that's why I bring them.

And I suppose, how did you get into trading sheep dogs to herd geese?

The first one is, as a working model that's kind of outside this, are working dogs or outdoor dogs better examples of how we...

And by that, I mean, I knew a family who had a farm and they weren't working dogs, but they just had two dogs that ran around outside.

They weren't allowed in the house because obviously...

I think that this is up north.

I don't want to sound too negative about that.

In fact, I think most of the time they do.

But I think the thing about working dogs is that they do, they have meaningful work and that's really important to at least to mammals and probably even, you know, that's probably taxonomically even more widespread evolutionary speak evolutionarily speaking getting a reward for doing hard work makes sense.
