He was a licensed private pilot.
KelseyHOST
60:02
He went to Worcester State, and he finished law school at Boston College in 1978.
KelseyHOST
60:07
This guy's a jack-of-all-trades, seriously.
KelseyHOST
60:10
Now, that same year after finishing law school, he moved to Townsend and was one of those small-town lawyers that just kind of like does a little bit of everything.
ChrisHOST
43:59
But of course we had St. Joseph's pick up hockey.
ChrisHOST
44:03
Now we have Worcester state.
ChrisHOST
44:05
They finished 18 and nine.
ChrisHOST
44:07
And then you had Riviera 17 and 10.
ChrisHOST
47:03
We have some 20, you know, 21.
ChrisHOST
47:04
We can get some age here and just some experience, but.
ChrisHOST
47:09
No, now we're getting to see a situation where I think St. Joseph's, I mean, I think they're going to be right there with Riviera and Worcester State.
ChrisHOST
47:17
I'm not saying they're going to go win the league, but I think they're going to be right there with them.
Doug BanksGUEST
43:01
And I'll give you an example.
Doug BanksGUEST

Anna Maria College in Paxton, which closed this past spring, their students had established transfer pathways to Worcester State and Fitchburg State, and those students with very little other choice and certainly not a lot of time to make those choices they transferred to those schools for example so so we're seeing you know transfer growth we're seeing um enrollment growth which is of course very good for our state college system our taxes are paying a lot of it but not total budgets and um yeah it's good good news on on the smaller campuses
Joe ShortsleeveHOST
43:36
Yeah, well, I was wrestling with whether or not it's good news or bad news because one of your story highlights headlines is that it's really also stemming from closed private institutions.
Joe ShortsleeveHOST
43:46
So, I mean, that's the underside of this, right?
Fred ToucherHOST
38:05
I'm a style of architecture.
Fred ToucherHOST
38:08
What school did Chris go to? Did we ever find that out? Worcester State.
Fred ToucherHOST
38:11
Did we ever ask? I don't think we have.
Fred ToucherHOST
38:13
Have we ever cared? No.
James BakerHOST
64:26
But, you know, a lot of weird stuff's happened so far [laughs] in 26, Frank, so you never know what you're gonna get.
James BakerHOST
64:31
I mean, I thought Bridgewater, um, might be the team to beat, and then they l- they go and lose to Worcester State, but now Worcester State's lost a couple of games, so this, this conference is pretty topsy-turvy.
James BakerHOST
64:42
It's gonna probably come down to who's left standing by week 11.
Frank RossiHOST
64:47
Left standing, uh, despite some folks trying to bury them, Hanover.
Alex AmalfiGUEST
8:24
Yeah.
Alex AmalfiGUEST
8:24
So I was looking at UMass Boston, and then the other two top ones for me were Worcester State and, uh, Southern Maine.
Alex AmalfiGUEST
8:32
Uh, Southern Maine's also in the Little East Conference, so, um, the biggest thing for me was proximity to home, um, nice facilities, the coaching staff.
Alex AmalfiGUEST
8:43
I met all the coaching staff, and I thought they were awesome.
Erik RudolphHOST
10:41
Bud, tell us about the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Wyatt RudolfHOST
10:46
Yeah, the MassCAC is a nine-team conference featuring Bridgewater State, Salem State, Anna Maria, Worcester State, Massachusetts Maritime, Westfield State, Fitchburg State, Framingham State, and MCLA.
Wyatt RudolfHOST
10:58
Bridgewater State won the auto bid in 2026, and there were no at-large bids awarded.
Erik RudolphHOST
11:02
correct and looking at the final npi numbers bridgewater state led the conference at 62 but after that there was a massive drop to salem state all the way down at 196 anna maria at 198 and worcester state at 202 so the mass cac had only one team finished inside the npi top 100 last season and nobody inside the top 50 in fact Bridgewater State was the only team in this conference that even finished inside the top 195 nationally.
Erik RudolphHOST
11:36
Wow.
Erik RudolphHOST
11:37
All right, now let's move on to the CNE, the Conference of New England.

6 MINS LATER

Erik RudolphHOST
17:27
Southern Maine, been there three times, lost twice.
Erik RudolphHOST
17:30
Who is your third?
Patrick ColemanHOST
20:21
I feel like I can say just 39 because they resulted in 340 yards, an average of 8.7 yards a carry.
Patrick ColemanHOST
20:28
He also scored four touchdowns, and Mass Dartmouth needed just about all of them in a 49 to 40 win at Worcester State on Saturday.
Patrick ColemanHOST
20:35
Wilson's a strong guy.
Patrick ColemanHOST
20:36
He's like 6'0", 215 or so.
Chris BurrellGUEST
6:26
In this case, they were playing in a really big game, like a final four, you know, state tournament game.
Chris BurrellGUEST
6:32
It was at Worcester State University.
Chris BurrellGUEST
6:34
The coach said things were, were pretty bad throughout, but it kind of culminated when his, uh, really one of his best players, a, a young Black kid, knocked a kid down when he was driving to the basket, uh, which is pretty, [laughs] pretty common in basketball.
Chris BurrellGUEST
6:48
It's a physical sport.
Adam Miller-StubbendickGUEST
16:48
I'm a East Coast guy my whole life.
Adam Miller-StubbendickGUEST
16:49
Played Division III small college football, Worcester State, um, University.
Adam Miller-StubbendickGUEST
16:54
Um, I actually had concussions my junior year, so I wasn't able to play football anymore.
Adam Miller-StubbendickGUEST
16:59
Um, but when I was in high school I used to help Pop Warner, so I always kinda had a passion for coaching.
Greg BergHOST
17:12
Ah
Adam Miller-StubbendickGUEST
17:12
... because I just had that feeling as a coach.
Adam Miller-StubbendickGUEST
17:15
Um, so I, I got into coaching then at Worcester State, a GA at Fitchburg State, and then I got the privilege to GA at Rutgers, which was 15 minutes from my house.
Adam Miller-StubbendickGUEST
17:23
It was kind of a dream come true, 'cause I grew up rooting for Coach Schiano and Rutgers, so to be able to work there for a few years under Chris Ash was really cool.
