Wool

We're a couple episodes behind on Stuart Fails, but...

And I've been reading the first silo book called Wool.

I need to get started on that.

It's very different.

I was gonna share real quick, I have downloaded the book Wool to listen to.

And there's three books in the series, and I read all of Wool and then about half of the second one, whose name I forgot, uh, before I drifted away to something else.

And as you were talking, I did remember the book was, I only read Wool.

I never got to Shift or Everyone's Dead, I think is what the third one's called.

Silo is a brilliant case study in understanding how the medium dictates the pacing.

Yeah, it's based on the Wool Trilogy by Hugh Howey.

But to really understand the mechanical flaws of the original text, you have to look at its origin.

Right, how it was published.

Yeah, Howey didn't sit down and write a massive, sweeping, intricately paced trilogy.

He self-published Wool as a serialized story online.

He dropped it in self-contained chunks.

He never even intended it to be a trilogy at first.

Um, and it's actually a big part of why I hated the book Silo when I read it, because they do the exact same thing where this character is named after one of the, uh, uh, r- Shakespeare characters, and they quote the book throughout.

You mean Wool?

Or they quote, they quote the play throughout.

Yes, Si- the Silo book Wool.

Anyway, um, yeah, it kinda ruined it for me because I kept thinking of New Moon-
