Woodford Folk Festival

Yeah.

So Woodfordia, um, for anyone that doesn't know is a beautiful site in Southeast Queensland that has always hosted the Woodford Folk Festival, which is one of the biggest music events in Australia.

Um, but they are so, um, so well aligned with permaculture principles, like everything they do is around building community, making people feel welcome, um, making sure there's diversity within their programs, plenty of environmental values, like the whole block of land has been converted from cow paddocks into this beautiful, well-forested festival area.

And each year they run an event called The Planting, where people come together and plant thousands and thousands of trees each year to keep their 100-year plan going.

Australian artist Lucy Gallant is known for her captivating one-woman band performances and has appeared at major festivals including Glastonbury, Byron Bay Blues Fest, and Woodford Folk Festival.

What had actually happened was Maple Street Co-op had been involved with the Woodford Folk Festival, which is a musical folk festival that's held not far from here, and had lost about 50 grand or something.

And so at the AGM they were getting rid of all the directors and getting new directors and somebody said, oh, I think Alan would make a good director because he'd been involved with the Upfront Club and had basically got them out of their stew.

And he said, well, yeah, I'd love to do that, but I'm not a member.

So that's a Co-op which sells a lot of healthy foods because that's another thing up here.

It's very environmentally friendly.

focused and so Alan started there and the Woodford Folk Festival that you mentioned that's an international festival it's huge that is not so far from us in the it which happens in just after Christmas every year yeah and there's people come from all around the world to that and also lots of performers do too So now that you've mentioned it, I thought I'd better tell people what it is.
