This is John Dingfelder.

You're listening to Down and Dirty on WMNF.

And we're here this morning for a good long hour talking about all things politics, of course.

And I've got my beautiful and brilliant-

I'm here.

Thank you for having me.

Are you kidding? Thank you for joining us on Down and Dirty on WMNF.

We're thrilled to hear your voice.

Won't be shamed.

Surly Voices here on WMNF Tampa, 88.5. My name is Liz.

I am one of your hosts.

My co-host Maria is joining me via Zoom, and our third co-host, Donna, is in an airport somewhere.

It's like somebody's saying, "Okay, you're not gonna, you're not gonna do it this time." Um, assuming of course that he did it last time.

Let me do the Surly disclaimer 'cause we're getting into, uh, treacherous territory, I'm afraid.

[laughs] The opinions expressed on Surly Voices are those of Surly Voices and not those of WMNF Tampa.

Um, and, oh, Trump got a shiny new, um, press secretary who-

Welcome to The Conversation.

You're listening to WMNF 88.5 right here in Tampa, the heart of Tampa Bay, or from wmnf.org from anywhere you might happen to be in the world.

And of course, I'm Mario Nunez, as I mentioned earlier, and I'm seated alongside my broadcast partner, an award winner, we'll get into that in just a minute, Joe King Carter.

Joe, how was your week?

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

And thank you so much.

And to bestow that award upon my dear friend, Joe King Carter, is our program director here at WMNF, Sean Cannan.

Hi, I'm Sean Cannan, news director at WMNF Tampa, and I did wanna cra- congratulate Joe King Carter on getting the Creative Loafing Best of the Bay Best Radio Personality.

Live from the WMNF Studios in Tampa, it's the Big Gay Radio Show.

Welcome to the Big Gay Radio Show.

My name is Chris Gorman, I'm your show twink here, joined by the electric trans queen of radio, Miss Esme Russell.

So I am very proud of this show.

The vote-by-mail request deadline is October 22nd, and so I s-s-suggest that you check your registration status to make sure you have not been disappeared by the Red Menace to elections, the Republican project to discount Democratic votes.

And will this election be the beginning of the end of something or the end of the beginning of something? Well, WMNF News and Public Affairs Director Sean Kinane is here to tell us about our candidate project here on Community Speaks.

Hey, Sean.

Well, good morning or good afternoon, Mabili.

Yeah, so I wanted to tell people that, uh, if you're a longtime listener of WMNF, that you remember that there was a tradition that was started by the late Rob Lorei, he was WMNF's longtime news director.

Before elections, we provide a platform for candidates [clears throat] to record short messages that we play on air.

So each week during Community Speaks, we're gonna compile all the recent eligible recordings and play them on the air, and so that's at 12:06 roughly every Monday from now until the election.

And you can also listen on 88.5 or the WMNF community radio app or on wmnf.org, and you can also listen to this recording on the website wmnf.org. I'm gonna compile the, the recordings that you're about to hear every week on this website.

So, so that there's four commissioners for everybody, your district and your three countywide currently.

If you're just tuning in, I wanted to let our listeners know you're listening to Down and Dirty on WMNF, and we're talking about the ballot amendments that you're gonna see when you go to vote.

Many of you already have your mail-in ballot.

Early voting will start pretty soon.

...

it was the Hispanic community.

Let me bust in for a second and just say you're listening to Down and Dirty on WMNF, and if you wanna join this heated conversation-

Buckle up, buttercups.

It's another episode of Surly Voices here on WMNF, Tampa, 88.5. My name is Liz.

I am one of your hosts.

My co-hosts, Donna and Maria, are on screen and ready to go.

... she, she had a, had the guy on that is connected with that film.

Uh, if...

I don't know if her, her, her bit can be listened to by WMNF, you know, to, to stream by NNF- WMNF listeners, but, uh, sh- he was on there probably for about a half an hour talking about AI.

It was a powerful, we all need to hear kind of show, and I guess the film is...
