Without Name

Sir, it is in your best interest to get back up to the car park and wait for me by your vehicle.

Lorcan Finnegan, the director behind 2016's tripped out folk horror film Without Name and 2019's weird psychological horror film Vivarium, delivered this Nicolas Cage vehicle that of course gets trippy and weird.

And I did enjoy this movie.

It's kind of Lynchian, but the score is the fucking tits, y'all.

However, if you want a little bit of a hint, hint about what's going on, I would say Loner is a very good companion piece to a couple of other movies that are also about folks getting lost in ancient woods.

One is the 2016 Irish horror movie called Without Name, directed by Lorcan Finnegan, who since then has made the movies Nocebo and Vivarium.

and a 2025 British movie, Hallow Road, made by Babak Anvari, who previously made the acclaimed Iranian ghost story Under the Shadow and Wounds.

Now, I'd stress there isn't a definite firm connection between these three movies, other than featuring folks lost in the woods.
