Well, this year, something unexpected happened.

Chris' case has been reopened by a full team of investigators, and just two weeks ago, an FBI agent and an investigator with the Wisconsin Department of Justice traveled to Linda's home and interviewed her over the course of two days.

After nearly sixty years, Linda finally had an opportunity to sit across from investigators and tell them what she knows.

But as you will hear, things did not go exactly as Linda had hoped.

So first, when there are cases where there's an officer involved in an incident that results in a death, under state law, there needs to be an outside agency that leads that investigation.

Frequently, that is the Division of Criminal Investigation within the Wisconsin Department of Justice, the agency that I I lead, we respond to these incidents in different places around the state when they happen.

Sometimes it's a different law enforcement agency that responds.

And so Milwaukee, for example, there's a Milwaukee area team that responds to these incidents in the Milwaukee area.

Both had minor injuries.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice is joining a coalition of states in two lawsuits challenging Trump administration changes to the Endangered Species Act.

These suits target new federal rules that make it easier to alter or develop habitat that's being used by threatened and endangered wildlife.
