And, and it looks like Madison county is going to be added to that list.

Now, Doug Jones probably won't do so well in Winston county or, uh, Shelby County or some of the, uh, Republican stalwarts.

But here in Madison County, if Doug Jones carries Madison County, then the countywide candidates better watch out.

Uh, our judicial races, our, our sheriff's race, they better watch out.

They're very, very, very similar to the type, to the place that I grew up.

I actually grew up in a town that, or a county that seceded from the Union during the Civil War, Winston County.

And I was so interested in that and trying to, you know, that's one thing that I think that I'm going to revisit in the writing because...

In Winston County, there's not a lot of people writing about that or getting the writing outside of Winston County.

But Winston County seceded from the Union.

Initially, I had thought it was for a noble reason of not supporting slavery.

They didn't support slavery, but the reason that they didn't support slavery was because the soil is so poor in Winston County that no one owned any slaves.

So they thought, hey, we can get out of this because we don't have any, no one here has any slaves.

It was March of two thousand eight.

The crew was thinning pine on a private tract in Winston County that ran up against the Bankhead National Forest in the sandstone country where the ridges are flat on top and the hollows drop off the sides so steep that you can't get a skidder down into them without rolling it.

The pine was on the ridgetop.

The hollows below were hardwood and mountain laurel and sandstone bluffs, and the track line ran along the lip of one of those hollows.

As with most cases featured in this episode, there's not a whole lot of information, and all we can do is report the facts that are presented to us.

The next update on David's case doesn't come until late August of 2007 when his new red Toyota Tercel was found abandoned in Bankhead Forest, just off County Road B-15 in Winston County, Alabama.

After talking to locals, the Coleman County Sheriff's Office learned that David had last been seen at the Jet-Pep gas station on Highway 157 in Battleground, Alabama on June 29th, 2007.

After that, David seems to have just disappeared and has not been seen or heard from since.
