We're just listening here on 1010 Winds Live, Mayor Giuliani and Governor Pataki with a news briefing, their first actually since the awful tragedy at the World Trade Center.

and the mayor giving us as much information as he can, but obviously there's not too much information to be had.

The mayor, just at the end, they're pointing out that we lost some firefighters and police officers, that a large number of them may still be in harm's way, that the city is on a heightened alert, that there's no sense we face another attack.

The National Guard has been activated mainly as a relief effort, as he pointed out.

He also pointed out, as we've been hearing on 1010 Winds, that people have been taking ferries or giving ferry rides out of the city to hospitals in New Jersey.

For example, 1,500 people are at Liberty State Park in Jersey City They were taken by ferry over there.

Another 600 are local hospitals that we know about.

And then you start to think about the businesses and every other person who's been hurt in more direct or indirect ways.

i heard you say it a couple of minutes ago ralph it's going to get worse and worse and it does get worse and worse and it must have been about 20 minutes ago when seven world trade center went down that uh the thick clouds of smoke got even thicker and dark and sort of blotted out everything and sort of wafted over to the brooklyn bridge and sort of blotted some of that out and then there was a motorcycle escort that ran by and lots of police cars fire trucks i guess that was when seven went down And ironically, that's where the mayor has his bunker, his command center for the Office of Emergency Management.

and against the Pentagon today.

And keep in mind that four planes, commercial planes, were hijacked and used in this terror attack, and the people on those planes also died.

Wednesday News Time, 5.54. A lot of the people who were injured today were taken across the river to hospitals in New Jersey, and one of those hospitals was Jersey City Medical Center, and there, 1010 Windsor reporter Sandy Klein.

Well, those buildings and all, in effect, have really gone, Juliet, and they'll be there no more.

It was just about six hours ago now, six hours ago roughly, that one plane, a hijacked plane, went crashing into one tower of the World Trade Center, leaving a gaping hole.

Yes, and one gentleman told me that many of the emergency trucks were already down there after the planes went in, and then they were so rocked by that explosion and the buildings imploding that they just turned over on their sides.
