While the article didn't have any new information, it did attract a lot of attention.

The following month, the Winnipeg Sun published an investigative article under the banner of Unsolved Mysteries called Inside the Pearson File.

The story ran with photos of Irene and the house where she was murdered.

It included interviews with Irene's friends and co-workers and a sidebar called the cop factor, officers, past and present implicated.

The feature story also put to rest a number of theories that police had at the time of the murder, including the necklace the police believed had belonged to Irene's killer.

It had actually belonged to Irene.

Her friend Panenko told a Winnipeg Sun reporter that he remembered seeing Irene wearing the necklace on the morning before she died.

He said, I saw it on her neck and picked it up and looked at it.

And in this case, it's relating to addictions, a frequent topic here on the podcast and on I just got to think this through here.

This follows a press release that I was fortuitously sent and included on last week of an organization that is a crown corporation, actually, of the government of Alberta with some absolutely top-notch doctors at the forefront, addictions experts, who studied data from British Columbia and came to certain very startling conclusions that for Manitoba has a lot of implications because here the belief is keep people alive until they're willing to seek help.

The problem is you're reviving people and just giving them another chance to brain damage themselves.

That is the colloquial way of describing it.

And Marty is a friend from Winnipeg.

He's a columnist in the Winnipeg Sun.

He's also a dynamo when it comes to his own podcast.

And he is known in some circles even as a Winnipeg bike critic in terms of the whole movement around bicycle paths.

I'm joined by my Winnipeg Sun columnist colleague, Royce Coop, who is also a professor of political sciences at the University of Manitoba and a candidate now for the Conservative Party of Canada here in Winnipeg.

Royce, I don't think there's much else to talk about except the tariff war.

And it really is an economic war now that has been declared, if you will.

We need to have a fulsome discussion about these things because Canada is still a democracy.

It's not a corporation run by the Prime Minister like he's the CEO of this country.

I think this is the one time, I think there's lots of times to call for it, but this certainly without a doubt is the one time when if I was Mark Carney, I would be calling the leader of every party into my office and saying, okay, let's work together on this.
