Windtalkers

I don't know what's happening.

And they drive me to where they're shooting Windtalkers on the John Woo movie.

And I go into a trailer.

And Nick Cage is there, but it's a teeny trailer.

Then there's another meeting, and the woman told me, the executive at the time, she's like, "These guys need to speak in a language that nobody else understands but them." Mm-hmm.

Imagine getting that note, okay? They understand each other's shorthands, okay? Like- You're like, "What is this, Avatar?" It's like, what? [laughs] I actually said, "What is it, Windtalkers? Remember Windtalkers?" Yeah.

[laughs] Yeah, yeah.

I'm like, I, I'm like, okay.

He also did Face Off with Nicolas Cage and John Travolta, if you remember that one from 1997.

He also did the second Mission Impossible film, Windtalker, Silent Night, as well as Paycheck with Ben Affleck and Uma Thurman.

These were his principal contributions to Hollywood.

But it's his Chinese films which have received the greatest world renown.

But because it's under John Woo, it's kind of stuck as a John Woo movie instead.

You know, that's interesting because there's another Nicolas Cage John Woo movie that I feel like really did not need to be a John Woo movie, Windtalkers.

Where there's a couple moments in there where you're like, oh yeah, this is a John Woo movie.

But yeah, this movie takes a hard John Woo turn at the end, which I did not remember.

But he's on The Ascendance.

And of course, we know him on the show for such delights as The Rock, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, Windtalkers, which we famously loved.
