Windows 3.1x

And back in the 80s, it was always funny.

Like, the screen would just be like a black screen and just, you know, Windows 3.1. Just like green letters.

This was a while ago.

You floppy disk for Windows 3.1.

But so we started going out there and I started calling places and every place said, you have an experience.

No.

And I made a flyer in whatever windows.

not before Windows 95, Windows 3.1. And I made a flyer with clip art with a head brain with a question mark in it.

And the band was called Mind of Our Own.

And I was the drummer.

It's actually a bit of a funny thing.

I was looking at the old games I played back in the 90s, and back with, I think it was Windows 3.1, they had these Microsoft Entertainment packs.

One of the packs contained a game called Jess Ball, which is super simple.

It's just atoms bouncing around that you should try to capture by building your own walls.

Or debugging and like even just the basic task of like finding out what prefab is actually referenced from this piece of code, etc.

It's all built into Rider with Unit, and it's an amazing tool.

And since I'm restless, I use both Windows, Linux, and Mac on a daily basis, more or less.

So Rider being cross-platform is the best fit for myself.

In the past probably 10 years, I've had a couple of times now, people have come to me with, in one case, it was a Windows 3.1 machine.

In the other case, it was a Windows, no, it's Windows 3.1, I think one Windows 95 and one Windows 98 machine.

And they've all come to me and gone, this is incredibly important for our business use case.

Please make it continue to work.

Crutchy, I have an open computer with Windows 3.1 on it.

That's what we operate on at the radio station.

We just need to level up and get out of, like, the Windows 3.1 interfaces.

You know? It's, it's wild.

So my number eight is actually the game that combined both of them after each had their own game in this franchise, but I'm talking about X-Wing versus TIE Fighter.

fantastic little flight sim from lucasarts like i said and there's just something about it like you could manage your shields your your engine your weapons you get sent out on missions where you're either escorting a ship and you had to ensure it got to its destination safely or you're just dog fighting but there was something about this franchise this one in particular i think because you know you kind of play both sides that just as a i guess i would have been in my early teens Just kept me hooked to my old-ass compact computer with a CD-ROM running Windows 3.1.

Will soundtrack to it, and it just, like I said, it made you feel like, okay, I know why Luke Skywalker liked getting behind the yoke of these things, so...

It's a game now, like if I could get a platform to play it on, I would go get a flight stick and probably give it a go.

I'm sure, again, I'm looking through it through a nostalgia lens, but...

Like I said, a lot of time spent at a good old desktop on Windows 3.1, a classic OS.
