Well, up in Maine this past week, they picked a spot for a wind farm.

800 megawatts.

It's the biggest the state's ever seen.

Commission Chair Phil Bartlett says the project will save Maine ratepayers at least $387 million, $2.4 billion in economic output, thousands of construction jobs, and 600 megawatts stay in Maine.

The rest will go to Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

That's five states from one wind farm.

We are just going to hang these out there as possibilities for new names for these towns.

Because these offshore wind farms-

...simply by existing in the water, are acting as de facto marine protected areas.

That makes a lot of sense.

That is the long-term application of this research.

But, you know, the study also brings up a critical ecological caveat that has to be addressed before we broadly declare offshore wind farms to be the saviors of ocean biodiversity.

Um, but it's kind of true and, uh, I mean, in terms of, uh, uh, open water swims that I haven't completed, um, you know, there's a wind farm swim here I did before my Channel that I got two hours in and we were pulled 'cause the, the, the weather turned terrible and the boat, the boat was a bit too big for me to be able to swim in the lee of it and i- yeah, it was, it, it wasn't safe.

Um, but that wasn't a failure, um, I never feel in, in, in that way because, you know, I got to swim at night, I got to swim in some big conditions.

Um, I didn't end up spending another three or four grand coming back, whatever it was.
