Wilmore

That is the day of Pentecost." Um, except that it didn't happen 2,000 years ago in ancient Judea.

That was, uh, the 8th of February 2023 in a small chapel in Wilmore, Kentucky, um, which we've heard about before as the Asbury Outpouring.

So why, why do I start there? Well, I think one of the great lies that the secular Western world has sold to the Church is that the power of God, um, is an ancient museum artifact, and that Pentecost is something for the history books.

We, we've been conditioned to treat Acts 2 like the Magna Carta or the Moon landing, which was this astonishing historical event, but that's where it remains.

I saw it as I was walking up from the train station at the, to the Novotel around the corner yesterday, just in the atmosphere, in the faces, in the people.

But I think I saw it most that I've ever known in my life three and a half years ago in what Tim was referring to in this outpouring that happened at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky.

Now, Kentucky is probably a place that very few, if any of you all [laughs] have been to.

It's sort of a drive through, flyover kind of place in the United States.

And Wilmore is a tiny little town, two stoplights, one grocery store, one Subway sandwich shop, but a Christian university there that has had chapel Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10:00 AM for decades.

This particular Wednesday at 10, February the 8th, 2023, the pastor ended abruptly.

S- some students, he just said, "If you wanna stay and pray about what ...

Another chapel, a, a, um, missionary from India was there to speak.

They purchased 200 student or licenses for their student leaders.

And I presented to them in Wilmore, Kentucky a couple of weeks ago, and we got 150 redemptions right now on that, right then on that code that was already covered, right? And everything is tying back into RevenueCat, which even RevenueCat is like, this is such an obscure use case that we need to build for, but we were able to figure it out.

and like this entry point of take the porn use case like hey we help people struggling with porn but what we're testing is uh digital wellness and wholeness as the front door right because as we'll get into like a pastor of a church talking about pornography it's still so taboo unfortunately in the church talking about that from the pulpit is going to resonate really different than hey how are you thinking about your digital life congregation right And a lot of that is because the underlying problems themselves aren't niche, but talking about them can be, right? Talking about the taboo-ness, right? And some just high-level metrics, like 54 Barna and Pure Desire, they did a research study, a refresh study, Like 54% of practicing Christians say they view pornography.

10% of Christian adults say their church offers programming to help, which is very, very low when you think about the value of a church space.

So the genesis of the story of the joint prayer gathering is Al, Gordon and I were in Asbury.

There was this kind of outpouring of the spirit happening in this tiny place, Wilmore, Kentucky.

We both got on a plane to be there to witness it.

Such was our desperation.

Not so long ago, in this the 21st century, we witnessed the faith of 19 college students.

Like the first fires of great awakening in this century, at Asbury University right there in little Wilmore, Kentucky.

And I do not exaggerate when I say that their faith was reported all over the world.

Well, how about we pray? You see, the Word of God gives us revelation.

Where in Kentucky is Wilmore?

It is basically

Lexington.

That happened on a Wednesday, so by Friday, word had gotten out, and many college students from the University of Kentucky, which is 20, 25 minutes away, and other universities in the area started coming down.

And so we, we were seeing some new faces in addition to the students and, and others that were coming from just the Wilmore community.

Hmm.

And so as that progressed, I kind of moved out of ministry mode and into I'm kind of back at the Georgia Dome figuratively-

We had people from all over the world coming to Asbury.

Yes.

Again, Wilmore is a two stoplight town.

Yeah.
